Wooden mouse / keyboard for the budget-minded set
Why spend hundreds, thousands on a wooden keyboard when there's a sufficient alternative available for the low, low price of $16.99? Granted, the iteration you see above does seem to lack the level of quality exemplified in Hacoa's version, but it's also around $283 cheaper -- not to mention that delightful mouse that comes in this package. Still, we wouldn't be surprised if that (presumed) wood finish starts to peel off after a lengthy night of WoW -- you get what you pay for, remember?

Note that the keys are "wood coloured" rather than actual wood.

Please stop using "iteration" for "version."
TIA!

That's the keyboard Grizzly Adams would use if he had a PC. I'm assuming he doesn't.

Oh God, I hope they don't make a Wooden Optimus keyboard.

does it blend? that is the question
I LOVE THE CAPS LOCK KEY @ Nov 3rd 2007 6:49PM
No, but it will shred in to mulch using a wood chipper.

I have this set though sadly I got the older set with white keys. I would have preffered the wood colored ones :-) would LOVE an affordable keyboard with wooden keys :-)
Its actually pretty nice and well built. Even the mouse is not all that bad. For the price its hard to beat and it does look nice.

By looking at the grain, it appears to be bamboo. I have a bamboo cutting board in my kitchen and it has the same thin strips of grain with mottled/dotted coloring. That might be why it's so cheap and possibly (relatively) sturdy. But then why not call it out as such in the product description?
Jeff @ Nov 3rd 2007 9:29PM
It does look like stained bamboo. I have a bamboo floor in my house and I agree, the grain is the same. The color isn't, though; they've obviously stained this to look like wood.
Calling this "real wood" if it's bamboo is false advertising. Bamboo isn't a wood, it's a grass. Still, it's harder than wood and looks just as nice IMO. I actually would have preferred it if they hadn't stained this at all, and just left it natural.
Bamboo is also much more sustainable than wood (it grows quite fast), so they could have taken the environmental angle with this. This is probably more eco-friendly than plastic, and certainly moreso than wood.

I think on a wooden desk, this might be tacky. How about a wooden computer?

It reminds me of a page from the 419 Eater (Nigerian Scam-Baiter) website. They got a scammer to carve "artwork" from wood and ship it to him.
Here is a link. Go about halfway down :
