This is what everyone expected the new iPod to look like (until the iPhone came out, that is). *Very* nice! The link isn't working for me, any info on storage capacity? Flash or HD based?

This server is in China and apparently not very robust -- or just slashdotted from the posting making rounds on the tech blogs.

I believe the term is "champing at the bit." But I digress.
skon @ Nov 6th 2007 3:00AM
Nope, it's "chomping at the bit". It's taken from what a horse will often do when anxious... it will chomp on the bit (the metal bar in it's mouth). Like just before a race etc.
Tlogan @ Nov 9th 2007 11:25PM
Well, you seem certain, so we'll consult the authorities (always a good idea):
"If someone is eager or anxious to do something, they are said to be champing at the bit, (not chomping at the bit. nor chomping on the bit).
CHAMPING: Repetitious, strong opening and closing action of the mouth which
produces sounds when the teeth hit together. Champing in swine may be a
threat signal, but also is performed by boars during courtship and
mating. Definition from Hurnik et al., 1995."
- The Encyclopedia of Farm Animal Behavior
champ
v. tr. - To bite or chew upon noisily.
v. intr. - To work the jaws and teeth vigorously.
Idiom: - champ at the bit
To show impatience at being held back or delayed.

What kind of storage does that have? Is it flash or hard drive based?
Justin @ Nov 5th 2007 11:07AM
I don't think iriver makes hard drive-based players, which is a shame.
ProfessionalGun @ Nov 5th 2007 11:23AM
Justin - they used to make hard drive players. . . but you're right, lately I haven't seen a single one from them.
Muu @ Nov 5th 2007 12:47PM
what's the screen resolution on this thing? if that volume ctrl isnt fake it'd be up there in 800x480 land, right...?

I have a zen vision:w 30gb but I'd only got this if it doesn't have the problems the new ZEN has(no bookmarks(i think), backlit stuff, tv out, etc.)and has AT LEAST 16gb because for my zen i use like anywhere between 14-20gb
Maff @ Nov 5th 2007 6:16PM
needs 16Gb+ storage, divx, mkv and H264 support, fingers crossed!

Oh, my other pet peeve: For oral communication, the word is pronounced "fort," not "for-tay." It's from the French, meaning strong; as in "être une forte personnalité" - to "come on strong."
Thank you for your kind attention. Please continue your fine work.
