Zune Guy: changing name to Microsoft Zune
Three tattoos later, what's a man to do? Change your name to "Microsoft Zune," natch. The initial legal consensus seems to believe that the name change is possible under trademark laws just as long as the individual is not benefiting from it or doing harm to the company in any way. Guilty on both accounts we're afraid.

Is this guy for real? He reminds me of the TAB episode of the Sarah Silverman program.
kevink @ Nov 5th 2007 4:00AM
by the way that was a great episode and does reflect this guy a lot
thef1re @ Nov 5th 2007 4:02AM
I can guarantee you he is part of Zune's marketing campaign.
i.e he gets paychecks from MS.
Mario @ Nov 5th 2007 5:18AM
"I can guarantee you he is part of Zune's marketing campaign.

If he was hawt, I'd agree. However, looking at the picture, I suspect that he's part of the PS3 marketing campaign, and he gets his pay-cheques from Sony.
Andir3.0 @ Nov 5th 2007 6:09AM
Yeah, because the PS3 has a lot to lose from Zune success.
Khris @ Nov 5th 2007 9:04AM
It's really a shame that Microsoft can't come up with original marketing ideas for their products.
First the iPod Nano Fatty.......now the Microsoft Zune Fatty! Oh Microsoft!
Trace The Hedgehog @ Nov 5th 2007 7:29PM
I dont think he should be allowed to change his name. I mean he IS hurting the company in some way.
TEM @ Nov 6th 2007 12:12AM
Wow, these are some of the most mean-sprited comments I could possibly imagine. In a free, democratic, pluralistic, liberal society people should be allowed to be eccentric without being insulted by such vile comments. You guys come off as being sad and petty little bullies.
I actually like this guy, even if it is just for the camp value.
narco @ Nov 6th 2007 5:28PM
TEM, in a free, democratic, pluralistic, liberal society, people are also allowed to make fun of people.
Rasheed @ Nov 7th 2007 9:07PM
It is ridiculous to change your name to a product in the first place, on top of that he is changing it to a highly inferior (in its respective market category) product. Whatever floats your boat though, strange world...

I hate to waste my time on this bbuuutttt--Is their any question of this mans inteligence? Just look at him. That's about it I guess. His next time of getting laid will be his first, and probably will find some poor unintelligent female who can't find a guy with binoculars. Sorry, but we have enough idiots on earth without this guy being put on as a story. God, where are we going!!!
Kevin K @ Nov 5th 2007 3:59AM
Wow its like the golden palace meets microsoft or something...
Joseph @ Nov 5th 2007 3:15PM
I'd Hit it!
KiwiNick @ Nov 5th 2007 4:01AM
Apple are probably paying this fat cvnt to change his name to make their CE look sexier.
zfurie @ Nov 5th 2007 4:01AM
Worst. Name. Ever. - Comicbook Guy (Zune Guy's older brother)
MAIcrosoft @ Nov 5th 2007 4:03AM
The weirdest thing i've heard today (my day just started atm).......
Oh, btw, my real name is Apple iPod Classic 80gb
Alan Partridge @ Nov 5th 2007 4:24AM
I told you not to give him any attention, now look what you've done.
LordFarkward @ Nov 5th 2007 4:47AM
in all seriousness, isn't this a textbook outcry for attention from a guy that's (at least mildly) depressed?
- 3 (debatebly) useless tatoo's
- overweight
- now this, a ridiculous name change
- his somewhat forced smile in that picture
i dunno... i don't know him personally, but when i see these points, it's telling me that something's really wrong with this guy and he needs help before anything bad happens to him?
michas_pi @ Nov 5th 2007 7:37AM
Don't forget the back hair.
Richard @ Nov 5th 2007 10:12AM
@Lord
Funny, one could easily claim that ANY tattoo is both useless and is an outcry for attention...
Wwhat @ Nov 5th 2007 10:37AM
Yeah self mutilation, a classical symptom.
josh @ Nov 5th 2007 1:25PM
"Funny, one could easily claim that ANY tattoo is both useless and is an outcry for attention..."
Plenty of people have tattoos in places few people can see. How is that a cry for attention?
Though tattoos are generally not "useful", many have solid emotional reasons for getting them. One of my good friends has a really nice portrait of her mother, who passed away when she was a kid. Having it as a part of her body makes her feel closer to her mom. I would classify tattoos like that as worlds away from ones like the Zune tattoos this guy has.
Redsyrup @ Nov 5th 2007 1:57PM
@josh, I guess memories don't mean as much as having a permenant cave painting etched into your skin at needle point.
Your friend maybe hot but she's still crazy.
Ethan @ Nov 5th 2007 4:26AM
Proof that beards do not hide double chins.
Mc Snails @ Nov 5th 2007 4:31AM
Correct. Beard in question conceals triple and quadruple chins.
Mc Snails @ Nov 5th 2007 4:30AM
I used to feel sorry for this piece of bloatware. Now, it's on...
Richard @ Nov 5th 2007 4:30AM
Instead of changing his name to Microsoft Zune, perhaps he should change it to Attention Hog. Judging by his…shall we say ample carriage, he is already a hog, so this makes very good sense.
shaun @ Nov 5th 2007 4:33AM
Balmer's brother
Bernhard @ Nov 5th 2007 4:35AM
Microsoft should rebrand that device...
Benny @ Nov 5th 2007 4:37AM
You have to be kidding me! I hope his current name is something terrible, like Stanley McDouchbag, so it's somewhat reasonable to change your name to Microsoft Zune.
M @ Nov 5th 2007 4:40AM
Its one thing to name yourself "Zune", but not "Microsoft Zune"?
M
MegaZone @ Nov 5th 2007 8:55PM
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. 'Zune' would be a bit cool, but 'Microsoft Zune' just has no panache.
But then, I changed my name to MegaZone. (Yes, really.)
James Ollier @ Nov 5th 2007 4:41AM
Sad Basterd
JosephMohmed @ Nov 5th 2007 11:27AM

SteveMB @ Nov 5th 2007 9:02PM
Fanboy much?
Matt @ Nov 5th 2007 4:42AM
i hate him, i hate him with a passion.
Andir3.0 @ Nov 5th 2007 6:12AM
Hey, then you and me can both hate Microsoft with a passion! (just different Microsofts)
Fank @ Nov 5th 2007 4:43AM
Stupid American. Go waste money, idiot.
Joseph @ Nov 5th 2007 3:18PM
The strange thing is...he's canadian
MR @ Nov 5th 2007 4:43AM
Holy crap! I don't usually block individual images but this close-up shot of a fat and hairy man prompted me to do so.
To engadget: Halloween is over already. No need to scare us with photos like this.
JosephMohmed @ Nov 5th 2007 11:25AM
AdBlock ftw.
Alanr @ Nov 5th 2007 5:11AM
The stupid fat bastard. I hope he gets eye cancer.
Ed @ Nov 5th 2007 5:12AM
Can he transfer songs over his integrated wifi?
Luke D @ Nov 5th 2007 5:29AM
You don't wanna see this 'Zune' 'squirt' 'songs'...
B @ Nov 5th 2007 5:43AM
ah Microsoft should be more creative with choosing a Mascot !!
Dublo7 @ Nov 5th 2007 5:43AM
This guy is utterly pathetic.
Amol @ Nov 5th 2007 5:56AM
But will he blend?
B @ Nov 5th 2007 5:57AM
Yes it will.
Juri @ Nov 5th 2007 6:03AM
just looking at him makes me wanna shave off my goatee...
Le Master @ Nov 5th 2007 6:35AM
I'd do him.
