Lenovo intros the ThinkStation S10 and D10 workstations
Lenovo, a company which appears to be inching out from under the thumb of parent IBM, today announced two new desktops christened with the ThinkStation moniker aimed at the enterprise market. On the more "conservative" side, the ThinkStation S10 offers either an Intel Core 2 or Core 2 Extreme processor, an NVIDIA graphics chipset, plus "multiple slots, bays and USB ports." Big brother ThinkStation D10 ups the ante on the CPU-side by adding an Intel Quad Core Xeon processor, which should warm your lab nicely. The systems are aimed at users engaged in "graphically and computationally-intensive" tasks, though the workstations also meet Energy Star 4.0 requirements, and contain more than 50-percent recycled plastics content. The new PCs will be available in January, with the S10 starting at $1,199, and the D10 at $1,739.[Via Reuters]

Correct me if I am wrong (and I know you will), but IBM is not the parent of Lenovo... they own 7.9% of the voting stock (assuming preferred stock were converted to voting common stock). IBM, in fact, is not even the largest shareholder.
So, it is not accurate to call IBM the parent. Parent companies can consolidate their financial statements with subsidiaries, and they need greater than 50% ownership for that.

IBM is NOT Lenovo's parent company.
How about new laptops??
IBM isn't parent company to Lenovo. Even if plenty of their former PC division engineers and marketers are now at Lenovo and Lenovo's headquarters has moved to New York it doesn't mean IBM owns them. They only own a minority of stocks.
Unless you meant that they were moving away from the IBM brand, in which case you would have been right.
does anyone know how to find a national lenovo account manager?
The only connection Lenovo has with IBM is that Lenovo bought IBM's notebook department (namely, the Thinkpad). So, during this transition period, the late Thinkpads has both IBM and Lenovo logo on them, but this does NOT mean IBM is the parent company of Lenovo.
Meh, I liked IBM, I think the should take their PC department back. They made good stuff, and their logo is just the man, Lenovo seems to be trying to keep up the quality, but their logo is not very unique, and I've heard complains about the customer service and shipping.
worst sales and customer service I've ever dealt with... I'm about to RMA an un-opened t61p (thinkpad) workstation... They do make great stuff but, they aren't Big Blue any more. I don't think any of the devisions of this company speak with one another.
