We humbly interrupt your regularly scheduled gadget news to bring you a brief update on the
2007 Weblog Awards, and once again remind you that in this wild cumulative voting system, you're allowed to cast a ballot once a day for the entire week-long process. Since the polls close at 5PM Eastern TODAY, you probably only have one last shot to let your voice be heard in the category of Best Technology Blog, and throw your considerable influence behind the candidate(s) of your choice. Remember, friends, only YOU can fight voter apathy at this critical juncture in history.
The only reason I've voted multiple times is because for some reason they FORCE you to vote to see the current standings
"If you want a ad.free site, try Firefox, and get an add-on called AdBlock Plus."
You've obviously not heard of IE7Pro which is a free extension for IE7 and includes a function almost identical to Ad Block Plus.
@Michael
I said that about Firefox yesterday and got totally flamed. Waiting to see what happens to you :)
@Evan:
It's probably the same person who works in the IE7 dev team who flamed me.
Man, I might've even voted if you guys didn't keep spamming this message over and over again. Sorry, but fail.
Oh come on. You want Engadget to make more profit on the ad banners don't ya? They want to win so they can sell up the page and get better, bigger, well paying advertisements.
If you install AdBlock Plus on Firefox you will never see an ad on Engadget. Honestly, I did not even know there were ads on Engadget until I checked it on a friend's computer.
Gizmodo is junk, and they reproduce a lot of Engadget stories.

Such hostility! What is it that makes you so angry?
Evan's another person who has obviously not heard of IE7 Pro.
Also he seems to believe that Engadget staff are real journalists who actually research the stories they post rather than the net trawlers they are. Hell I'd go so far as to even say they don't even trawl the net but rather just wait for people to email them in stories and then copy whats said on the page in question without researching it themselves.
I personally keep voting for Gizmondo just because Engadget is sounding desperate by posting requests for you to vote every 10 posts or so.
I never said anything about ads. I said that I am tired of seeing "Remember, vote for us!" news posts at regular intervals.
Ha ha ha I just got flamed for promoting Firefox over Internet Explorer. I will let you in on a little secret that I also have IE on my computer too, I just prefer to use Firefox for numerous reasons. Please don't pin me down as some anti-Microsoft bozo either, if you saw my tech. you'd label me a Bill Gates fanboy for sure.
I also have to laugh at the thought of reading a blog and expecting the writers to be journalists. It is a blog.
Gizmodo is off topic half the time and it looks like the original weblog template.
At least Engadget has just casually mentioned the vote over the past week. Gizmodo has shamelessly been on its hands and knees begging its readers for votes.
I can't even believe Gizmodo is in the running.
its kinda a 2 horse race with others trailing by miles......... the only competition engadget has is from gizmodo. though they look to be distant seconds.
i wonder what will happen if engadget suddenly trails to gizz before the final closing
*rolles his eyes with a stupid grin*
I still have 50,000 IP addresses if necessary. Be not afraid young iNgadget, for I will protect thee.
Wes,
It appears that they also have someone else doing that as their numbers have jump at near exponential rates in the last two days. They were at one point almost 10k behind. Now its just 900 or so.
Yeah something really screwy is going on. Gizmodo is suddenly getting like two votes every second.
gizmodo is only a few votes away. better get voting people. better get voting.
Losing a lot of ground here...
Maybe the puppy (and other) pictures over there are paying off.
Multiple votes per user? Ttssss. Maybe we can run the elections that way?
Maybe if Engadget finally reworked their site a little, I'd vote. Seriously, what news are you guys bringing to the table. You are fast with news on a few different fronts, but it is in the same bloated stale weblogs inc format where every page weighs 1 - 1.5 MB. Add poor commenting system. Poor moderation. SPAM the Engadget site several times with posts urging visitors to vote multiple times ... Just great.
What's with all the Giz hate over here? Say what you will, but at least the readers there come off as far more wittier/clever/funnier. Both blogs complement each other well, I'd say.
I also don't get why Engadget refuses to ever mention or reference Giz by name, like it's some kind of Time Warner policy imposed from up above. I think you guys should have a sense of humor about all of it and post funny pics of Ryan having a lightsaber duel with Brian, or something like that....
Try mentioning Engadget on Gizmo(n)do or being critical of anything Gizmo(n)do says, you will be banned from there shortly.
come on Apple Blog, you can do it
I don't like Gizmodo because I can't catch tech news without having a little web porn thrown in. I want news, not internet garbage.
Regardless, I don't think there is anything wrong with a site asking it's readers to vote. There not asking for your money, if you read Engadget on the regular, just click the link and cast a vote.
All this garbage about "i would vote if engadget didn't spam the news" etc is simply that, Garbage. Do us all a favor. Don't vote, don't read this blog, and don't comment here.
Do any of these finalists not make up facts like Engadget?
Do any of them not blog about obviously terrible gadgets that just waste people's time?
Do any of them know proper spelling and grammar, unlike Engadget?
Do any of them not spam about voting for some award?
If there is, THAT is the finalist that will get my vote.
If Engadget is so perfectly awful to you, why the hell are you here? Go read CNN.com or something.
No
No
No
No
Good Luck!
Damn, looks like we've got an unhappy customer. For the record, you're totally wrong on all counts -- but luckily for you there's plenty of choice in tech news. Sorry we're not up to your standards, good luck out there.
"Fight voter apathy, vote in the Weblog Awards again"
Oh jeez - do we have to?
Yes.
Ha, yesterday I voted in general elections as well as the weblog awards. Sadly, I only received one "I voted Today" sticker.
Voter apathy? Dr Ron Paul cured my apathy!
Not to mention gizmodo sucks.
I didn't realize it has gotten this close. 4 of my computers just voted for you!
Just a casual troll in the park: jmilano600@yahoo.com, jmilan@resortquest.com
If I vote for Engadget, will Engadget stop pestering me to vote for Engadget?
Only until the next big blog contest. We promise. :)
The more you ask me the vote, the less I want to.
I get the feeling that you haven't cleaned your room or done your laundry in quite some time.
I get the feeling that you haven't cleaned your room or done your laundry in quite some time.
That's the great thing about college - you don't have to clean your room or do your laundry. Although I do, because that's just disgusting. My roommate last year, however...
I know you wanna win, but do you have to spam the frontpage with it? For those with RSS readers it's especially annoying.
We don't like spamming for these lame popularity contests, believe me, but we're being careful not to do it any more than the competition. It's kind of like proliferation.
I would, but I don't care. Just kidding, guys, i'll vote right now!
Yeah, it was worth saying twice...
voters are wankers
Shes dead Jim!

Ryan, you aren't speaking any sense.
If you view this as a "lame popularity contest" why are you at all concerned about winning it? (And you are, why else would you even ask us to vote?)
If you don't like spamming us to get votes, why are you? Why don't you do a better job than the competition so there's no doubt in our minds who should get our votes?
As far as only pestering as much as the others, that's a nice excuse and all, but Lifehacker haven't asked me to vote for them once. Guess who you've actually been reminding me to vote for?
"Ryan, you aren't speaking any sense."
Perhaps you should be voting for this blog instead http://www.dickinson.edu/blogs/grammar/show.cfm?20051003.
