Video of the Nintendo DS 1seg TV tuner in action
We've seen a couple pretty press photos of the forthcoming DS 1seg TV tuner, but nothing beats video -- and the Japanese promo video unearthed by the crew at Gamebrink delivers the goods in spades. Apart from the usual orientation and aspect ratio settings, the tuner has some neat extra features -- you can take notes on one screen while watching on the other, and it also can be set to take screenshots whenever the closed captioning changes, allowing you to flip through a show like a picture book later. Japanese DS fans can get their hands on the 1seg tuner starting on the 23rd, according to Gamebrink. Check the whole video after the break.

Why is the little guy punching Bo Bo at about the 1:30 mark?
Does Japan not have the number "3" ?
Those are the available channels :), I'm sure your television doesn't go through every number.
It just so happens that 3 of one thing has never existed in Japan. You'll never see 3 people, apples, or buildings in Japan, it will always be 2,4, or something else.
Wait...was that a serious question?
"Does Japan not have the number "3" ?"
No, they lost it in the 1905 Treaty of Portsmouth. Russia now has all of Japan's 3's.
Thats Funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10 and 11 are right out as well.
/The number of the counting shall be three... oh wait.
1, 2, 4, 5, 6....
dammit! those japanese find ways to get ahead of EVERYTHING
So, I think this would be great to have, but it seems it would be useless after Feb of next year when all of our broadcasts are in HD. Or is this HD anyways?
Broadcasts aren't all going to HD, they will just all be digital.
And this is a japanese peripheral receiving 1seg digital broadcasts, in japan...
This is already digital. But, it's Japan-only digital. We really need one for America.
It would be a pain to hull around a signal converter if it doesn't recognize digital broadcasts.
Sorry, I mean in Feb 2009
Not HD, digital. 1seg is digital. (Plus the date is for the US right? Pretty sure Japan is already digital)
yes
