Gigabyte's Visuals: the USB gauge for your PSU
We don't want you to get your hopes all sky high for nothin', so we'll preface this by noting that Gigabyte's Visuals only operates with the firm's Odin GT-series of power supplies. For those still with us, this monitor-mountable gizmo enables users to keep a close eye on the temperature, power and fan speed of their PSU, and it gets all the juice / information it needs via USB. Granted, it's probably overkill for all but the most hardcore of overclockers, but no one here ever said that extravagance was necessarily a bad thing. Look for this one to land anytime for a currently undisclosed price, and hey, maybe next year Gigabyte will open up the compatibility list a bit, eh?

You can only read one thing at a time? Lame.
does it come with a Type R sticker too?
yes
why can't i find any temp/wattage/fan speed displays? maybe im just looking in the wrong place but i would really like something like this to tell me how much juice im sucking. i think i need a new PSU. my system just failed while playing HL2:ep2 and i think its because my ATI Radeon X1650PRO isnt getting enough power from my 500W PSU. maybe its just over heating but im not OCing it or anything so im not sure. if i had something like this i might be able to get a better idea of whats going on and how to prevent it.
i got pretty excited until i saw that you need a Gigabyte PSU and there's no set price. lame
look at zalman MFC2. they also have a product that cna tell your wattage, 4 fan controller and RPM indicator.
does it come with a Type R sticker too?
no
now THAT's funny. these computer geeks, who drive Yugo's, have no appreciation for car forum humor. most likely they have a large red "R" on their laptops
Yeah, because computer geeks have no taste in cars.
I'm a total computer/video game geek, yet I drive an '87 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA. Yup. That, I suppose, spells "Yugo"? Maybe you should stop trying to stereotype.
One of these days I've been meaning to hack a few multimeters, mount them in my case, and connect them to the various lines of the PSU. Ta-duh, cheap hardware PSU monitoring.
[sarcasm]damit, this only works with one type of psu. i so wanted to mount this on my imac[/sarcasm]
i think this is a good idea for the "hardcore gamers", but at least this version is terrible. only one thing at once, and the three leds seem lieke they could be very distracting while going for that monster kill
im sure the dials wouldnt move much on an imac

don't think overclockers is the right target market, more like,.. people with no asthetic taste or common sense.
so you overclock your system, get say a few percent more in speed, then you plug in this sthing, butt he usb drivers polling a few times a second eats up that extra speed.
in other words, you need to overclock just to make sure this thing doesn't case a performance hit.
it always amazes me how slow peoples computers can get after they load it with extra junk.
Nifty little gadget I hope it has a little price tag.
