Meta,
The Engadget search Dashboard widget
Engadget is no stranger to widgets, we've seen Dashboard and Konfabulator versions of our RSS feed in the past, but the latest in this illustrious line of widgetry is meant for searching the past instead of providing convenient updates to the present. That is to say, it's an Engadget search widget, check it out. Thanks imacmatt09 for going to the trouble!

Yes, thank you!
Does it work better than Engadget's current search??
Your all very welcome. I had vista I would attempt one for it but then again I don't. I'm glad you guys like it.
Vista Sidebar gadget please. Then again, I already have you on the RSS gadget anyway...

here ya go.
a lot of the comments are negative, but it works great for me.
How about Vista ?
if you are stuck with Vista...go buy a Mac!
:-)
Buy a Mac? Why would volutarily become insufferable queefing iPhaggot.
Mac?
Oh that's right so instead of paying ~1k my computer I end up paying over ~2k for it, and the components sucks balls, I can't upgrade, no advance or even proper networking features, the components quality are worst than a Dell 200$ laptop. To top it all up, I am extremely limited on my peripheral and software. Also I have to re-program all my personal software for it, with this joke of SDK and to top it all off, instead of having manufacturing warranty of all my parts from 3 to 5 years, now I'm stuck with this "1 year" I have to pay extra.
And this is not to mention all the issues of poor quality build each Apple creation has, that apple refuses to fix, even for the super easy fix like "clock-freeze on title issue on iPod Nano Gen 1 and 2" (I don't know about Gen 3) If they can't make a clock, then they can't make anything correct.
And let's not talk about gaming, in fact with the poor air-flow of their system, I think it will start melting when you will run 3D Mark 06 (if it ran on it).
A friend of mine lends me his Mac Book Pro for me to try it, as he wanted to sell it, and disappointed I was. For a first, I was able to crash it just by clicking like crazy on the caption bar on a window and starting up QuickTime and closing really fast (while it still loads) and re-open it right after. The OS is so slow that when you quad click on a window it's minimize/restore animation needs to catch up. Moreover, every time you want to click on it, you can't click near it, your mouse need to be directly well positioned on it and THEN you can click. So all I see is everything to slow me down when I work. And let me not start with multi-tasking.
Finally, just to say that it's not only the laptop, at school we HAD some (8) iMac's for the music students... as a Lab technician, I can tell you, I restarted those Macs at least 2-3 times a day. And the worst part is that sometime the power button fails to work, so you got to literally unplug it. How lame? And you can't do anything more than this to damage the system. They cause so many issues with students, which the school decided to sell the computer to students who wanted them, and replace them with MAC's. So don't tell me that Mac is great.
Frankly I must say this:
Mac OS X = WinMe > DOS > Windows XP > Windows Vista.
I hate it when people don't believe that Macs crash. I worked with a couple G4s in my video production class and I'd be damned if Final Cut Pro didn't crash on me at least once every time I went in there to work on a video, let alone have the entire OS lock up and force me to hard reboot it. Some days it was as bad as three times in a row.
Not to mention we would have numerous problems (probably mostly caused by people not knowing how to use them, which presents a huge problem to 'Macs being easier to use') where important programs like the INSTALLER were deleted. I had to restore them from the installation CD. By hand.
The Father would be proud of you imacmatt09.
macheads...
no other comment for now
Thanks for sparing us the trouble! =)
Sorry my post is supposed to be link with pstopper reply. (just above)

go away.
I am a Mac user. I apologize for pstopper's fanboyism, and I do not support it in any way. Thank you.
Happy Ubuntu Gutsy user, checking in to absolve you of the words of that other guy...
come on...it was a joke!
i use both platforms on a daily basis. it is beyond me why anyone would opt for wintel, other than the proliferation of games on that platform. One platform is just more intuitive and easier to work with than the other...just one man's opinion!
Wow, I can now search Engadget and find a bunch of articles that link, instead of go actual websites where I could see and buy and get information, but to other pages inside the Engadget site. Wow, and it's free, too!
then what are you wasting your time here commenting for? Engadget aggregates all of the gadget news for you so you don't have to waste time trolling the Internet, and then gives you the link to go to the product's website. So go bitch and moan somewhere else. Nobody here cares.
I wanted to give feedback to the people who presumably administer the site, is all. I think my comment is accurate -- not all links need to be inside the site. If there's a post about software product X, it makes sense that that link should go tot he company's website, and not searching for other articles about software product X on Engadget.
Heres a better konfab. one that I designed http://www.widgetgallery.com/view.php?widget=42396
I tried the site search a couple times but I never got the results I was looking for, even after searching for the exact title of the post. I hope this works better.
I tried it and no matter what I search for, all I see on the site is Apple stuff. Hmm... Ok... settle down everyone! I was just kidding.
imacmatt09, thanks for the cool widget.
Haters from BOTH sides of the fence can go take a flying leap. I'm a Mac AND Windows user. I guess that makes me biOSual.
All this fanboi flamewar "UR COMPUTAR IS TEH SUKC!!11 LOL " "NO U!!!!" bullcrap makes me want to jump through the screen and give *all* of you a good backhand slap upside the head. BOTH systems work equally well in some areas, and blow in others.
For the "MAKS AER TEH EXPENSEIVE ZOMFG!!!!1" types, go price up a spec for spec PC from any of the major PC manufacturers. You're probably only paying an extra $50-100 for the badge, and there's decent customer service (normally) to back it up. Apple just doesn't like playing in the low-margin low-end arena, so it LOOKS like they're outrageously priced. Granted, they get their arses handed to them in market share because of this fact, but that doesn't mean you're not getting a decent computer for your money.
For those on the "LOL UR WINHOZE CRAHSED!!!!" bandwagon, a lot of the issues come from cheap components and poorly written drivers because there isn't iron-fisted control over PC hardware like you have on the Mac side. While yes, this means that some budget computers crash when you look at them hard, it also means PC users have the chance to buy a low-end PC when even the mid-range stuff is way outside their budget. PC manufacturers have chosen to play in the budget personal computer arena, and have thereby introduced thousands more people to the world of computing than Apple systems have. Just like a cheap first car, things break left and right on the cheap PC's, but it's better than walking.
OK, you can vote me down into the abyss now. kthx.
Linux...
Yeah, really. Linux.
Running Ubuntu Gutsy now. Works great, save the effect the idiotic DMCA has on one's ability to watch their own media...
ya, this reply is actually for greg. Linux is great, I'm writing this in Linux right now, but Linux has it's own problems(MANY problems). When Linux works and it's all set up, you're right, it's much better than Windows or Mac but therein lies the problem. Installing it with the new Ubuntu is fairly easy(though still MUCH harder for the average joe end user) but actually setting it up so it works completely is damn near impossible for any1 without a PhD in comp sci. For example, lets look at graphics cards. Well you can go with ATI or NVidia. With ATI you have to hope for the mother of all miracles that it actually installs correctly and can run your desktop at > 640x480 resolution and even then a lot of stuff it broken(watching videos). With NVidia, it's a lot better but there's still that 50/50 chance that the whole thing gets screwed up and you have to reinstall the OS. So, no, Linux is not the answer here, not unless you REALLY know what you're doing or Ubuntu or some other package makes it much more user-friendly.
Actually, I've used Linux too, in fact I was using exclusively Linux for about 4 years. (Debian GNU/Linux is the one true OS, btw) I'm not real sure what you're talking about Mark. I used Nvidia cards all the time, and if I farked up building the driver, I just ended up at the CLI, and I just went back at it again. In fact I built all my own kernels, modified a little of my own software, and ran a web/database/ftp/mail/irc/webcam/shoutcast server off of a headless system stuffed under my desk next to my main PC that was another webcam server, my network storage, and my "daily driver".
The point is, you don't have to be Doctor Roboitnik to use Linux; in fact, if you know how to RTFM it's not that much more involved than Mac OS or Windows.
You know what PhD stands for anyhow, right? PTTTHHHDDDDDD!!!!! (insert Bill the Cat image here)
Oh, and ethana? Google "DVD::RIP". Big win.
It took you a looooong time!!!!
Sweet congrats iMacmatt! :)
btw ppl, he is ours! http://www.apple-group.com
