Mac? Oh that's right so instead of paying ~1k my computer I end up paying over ~2k for it, and the components sucks balls, I can't upgrade, no advance or even proper networking features, the components quality are worst than a Dell 200$ laptop. To top it all up, I am extremely limited on my peripheral and software. Also I have to re-program all my personal software for it, with this joke of SDK and to top it all off, instead of having manufacturing warranty of all my parts from 3 to 5 years, now I'm stuck with this "1 year" I have to pay extra.
And this is not to mention all the issues of poor quality build each Apple creation has, that apple refuses to fix, even for the super easy fix like "clock-freeze on title issue on iPod Nano Gen 1 and 2" (I don't know about Gen 3) If they can't make a clock, then they can't make anything correct.
And let's not talk about gaming, in fact with the poor air-flow of their system, I think it will start melting when you will run 3D Mark 06 (if it ran on it).
A friend of mine lends me his Mac Book Pro for me to try it, as he wanted to sell it, and disappointed I was. For a first, I was able to crash it just by clicking like crazy on the caption bar on a window and starting up QuickTime and closing really fast (while it still loads) and re-open it right after. The OS is so slow that when you quad click on a window it's minimize/restore animation needs to catch up. Moreover, every time you want to click on it, you can't click near it, your mouse need to be directly well positioned on it and THEN you can click. So all I see is everything to slow me down when I work. And let me not start with multi-tasking.
Finally, just to say that it's not only the laptop, at school we HAD some (8) iMac's for the music students... as a Lab technician, I can tell you, I restarted those Macs at least 2-3 times a day. And the worst part is that sometime the power button fails to work, so you got to literally unplug it. How lame? And you can't do anything more than this to damage the system. They cause so many issues with students, which the school decided to sell the computer to students who wanted them, and replace them with MAC's. So don't tell me that Mac is great.
Frankly I must say this: Mac OS X = WinMe > DOS > Windows XP > Windows Vista.
I hate it when people don't believe that Macs crash. I worked with a couple G4s in my video production class and I'd be damned if Final Cut Pro didn't crash on me at least once every time I went in there to work on a video, let alone have the entire OS lock up and force me to hard reboot it. Some days it was as bad as three times in a row. Not to mention we would have numerous problems (probably mostly caused by people not knowing how to use them, which presents a huge problem to 'Macs being easier to use') where important programs like the INSTALLER were deleted. I had to restore them from the installation CD. By hand.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
How about Vista ?
if you are stuck with Vista...go buy a Mac!
