HTC said to be planning 2-3 Android-based handsets next year

There's not exactly a flood of information here, but HTC CEO Peter Chou reportedly let loose a few details about the company's plans during a recent analyst meeting, including the tantalyzing tidbit that it plans to release 2 or 3 Android-based handsets in 2008. While the so-called "Dream" handset (pictured above) would seem to be a sure bet for one of those, Chou apparently didn't drop any hints as to what we might be able to expect from the other handsets. In other HTC news, according to DigiTimes, Chou also said the company plans to release a non-Qualcomm-based 3G handset in the "near future," along with a new user interface that'll be "better than its current TouchFlo technology," with a couple of WiMAX / TD-WCDMA devices thrown in for good measure as well.
So...like...uh...where's the SDK being released today, huh?
I'm thinking it'll be closer to 2.4 handsets than say 2.6 but either way I'm sure it'll be 2-3.

I know this is fascinating, but really-- How does this affect us RIGHT NOW?
Call me when there's a product on the market that I can buy and use. For now, it's still vaporware as far as I'm concerned. It's in the same good-intentions-in-progress category of Duke Nukem Forever and the Phantom Game Console.
When it's at Best Buy or Newegg, or at least on assembly lines, I'll be MUCH more interested.

No kidding, this is nothing more than Google's version of a pro wrestler cutting a promo on Microsoft and Palm. I hate to say this, folks, but Windows Mobile 6 is gonna' win this fight.

That's not the device. That picture has been passed around more than Paris Hilton and confirmed a dozen times over to not be anything.
