HTC just went live with their
Touch Cruise. "Touch" as in that TouchFLO interface, "Cruise" as in GPS-enabled. The third addition to HTC's Touch lineup packs HSDPA, WiFi, Bluetooth, a 3 megapixel camera, microSD expansion, and a 2.8-inch touch-screen lying on top of a Windows Mobile 6 foundation. Oh, and it's loaded with TomTom Navigator 6 software to make the most of that GPS receiver. Yup, everything
mostly what we thought it would be. Available this month from European retailers or SIM-free direct from HTC.
Update: We're still digging but HTC was a bit unkind by not providing specific country launch information or supported radio bands. At the moment, this looks like Europe-only.
Update 2: Good news, specs are
now posted and it's quad-band GSM like we originally heard with HSDPA/UMTS riding 2100MHz for Europe and 850/1900MHz for the ol' US. Hoozah!

Maybe it will be a separate model for US/Canada only with HSDPA 850/1900 bands. Not the real tri-bands HSDPA.
Help me touch cruise !!! help me oprah winfrey !!!!!! horrible name... :S
Is it possible to buy this phone direct from HTC and then enable it for use in the United States, on say, an AT&T account? Thanks...
Don't buy from HTC in the US, unless from a carrier. My HTC Kaiser won't work on ATT 3G and HTC refuses to fix it.
so I'm SOL on this one?
WM6, wifi, touch screen....damn...
Anything in the US similar? My VZW contract is up in two days and I'm looking to greener pastures and better smartphones...the question is which one? Maybe a Blackberry Curve?
hey htc, how about you make the scren fill out the front of the phone a little more? Im no iphone sackrider, but thats one thing they got right. Make the screen bigger!
Yikes, that's one sexy looking phone. Almost makes me sorry for buying the original HTC Touch.

It's a GSM device and won't work on Sprint. Sorry.
So just to confirm, this phone will work in US and I will be able to use the net with my ATT account?
Nice to see an actualy release day for the cruise! GPS should be standard in a phones!

Here's a nice Youtube clip of the device in action.

Thanks for the link.
This is a promising device, for sure, but (as can be seen in an additional YouTube clip), HTC isn't up to Apple's game, yet.
Apple's implementation of "dual-touch" is pure genius.
That said, I'm sort of locked-in to WM, so the Touch Cruise (really? you couldn't have found any better name?) is definitely on my radar.
still QVGA?
Fantastic I've been looking forward to this device when I first heard about it.
Seems its for sale at £375 here already : http://www.devicewire.co.uk/HTC-Touch-Cruise
Jess
Quad-band GSM/EDGE = works with any GSM 2G/2.5G in the world (AT&T, T-Mobile, Fido, and etc)
If it has tri-band HSDPA (850/1900/2100), then it will works with 3G/3.5G AT&T and the rest of the world.
Just curious to know if anyone can confirm that the middle D-Pad button is similar to the "scroll ball" that is on the HTC Trinity/XDA Orbit?
Correction, I meant like the HTC Artemis/XDA Orbit.....
Based on the video posted, it looks like it will function like the Shadow/Juno. It works both as a D-Pad and as a scroll wheel.
"850/1900 MHz (USA)"
But not for TMO users. TMO has their own freaky band. My Cavalier is relegated to Edge on TMO but will rock the 3G on AT&T.
I'm going to cry if HTC doesn't announce this phone for the US :(
This phone is way better than the iPhone
- Can sync with Microsoft Exchange
- 3G!
- GPS
- Can install 3rd party apps
- unlocked versions officially available!
OK, someone please clarify this for me since I'm royally confused...
Will this thing be fully functional on Tmobile USA, yes or no?
If not, why not?
buyer beware... my HTC kasier worked 2 weeks, quit on ATT 3g... HTC US response:
Thank you for your inquiry.

There may be fix for this issue.
>>Nice to see an actualy release day for the cruise!
I meant to ask -- WHAT is the date.
THIS IS A BAD ASS PHONE!!! and to think that i was about to purchase the hts touch that just came out here in the U.S.
**and this is no B.S** but i heard from a sprint rep that they will be coming out with the "htc touch dual" she just said that she didnt know when.. but i doubt it will come with the 3G feature.. :(
So you can't use this phone with sprint???? But sprint is the only one with all the awesome services. Does anyone else do unlimited tv and radio and navigation and internet for $25 a month?
