I own an orange Caplio R7 and can talk about lens quality from first-hand experience, not from looking at pictures from a review. The wide angle has less distortion than the 28mm Leica and is very sharp. The telephoto is not quite as sharp (but some of that may just be hand-holding a 200mm equivalent at slow speeds). There is some purple fringing in high-contrast edge detail. Overall, it packs a lot of quite advanced features into a compact body and is not just a point and shoot. People who have seen it and the results are very impressed- especially since they have never usually heard of Ricoh cameras.
PS You can see my Caplio R7 shots on Flickr (search Peter John Dean) but I have reduced the image size. If anyone wants a full-size image I can do it, with a comparison of a Leica shot which is almost identical. I defy you to tell which is which just by looking.
the Nook Color proved it was an undercover tablet all along, Barnes and Noble has hit back with this latest Nook as proof of its focus on one thing: reading.
