It's not everyday that you see Zenith hanging out on the cutting-edge, but for those camping out under a rock since 1995, you should probably be informed that LG owns a majority share of the company. If you'll recall, LG was
tooting its own horn just last week about having the first digital-to-analog converter box to be certified for the US Commerce Department's
coupon program, and if two and two really equal four, the unit you see pictured above is indeed
the device that was previously referenced. The DTT900 was developed and produced by LG, but it will apparently be sold under the Zenith brand name -- you know, so it'll blend in better with that 80s-era TV.

That whole cable coupon thing is the biggest corporate welfare program to come along since the Iraq war.
$40 bucks towards a box that's going to cost what?
Taxpayer's money's down the drain...
Anyone too poor to afford to buy the converter box shouldn't be at home watching TV anyway.
The sad part is that actually I have one of those 80's era TV.... Ok, it's more like a 2002 model, but still CRT and with round screen :-D
And guess what lol I had a Zenith DVD-VCR combo
It's too bad Zenith isn't around anymore. They were the last American TV manufacturer, and they really had some cutting-edge stuff back then. We have a 27-inch Zenith CRT from the late 80's-early 90's time period, and the tech in that TV was really advanced for back then. There's virtual surround sound in that TV. Way before Bose did it. It also has 3 composite inputs and a S-video. The picture is also better than just about anything else.
But remember, Zenith also invented the most important thing that a TV needs to have: The remote.
I have a Zenith upconvert DVD Player with HDMI, Component, and Optical output :)
Only up to 1080i though.
I still have a 1980 or 1981 model year 25" Zenith Console TV that still works great. The remote control is a "Zenith Space Command" that used high frequency tones instead of infrared LOL. I don't even have to point the remote at the TV it's great. Now the funny thing is that on top of this 1981 Zenith System 3 TV is my Vizio 47" LCD TV that looks gargantuan in comparison. But I want to keep the 25" TV as it works so darn well. So I will get one of these boxes to keep it going strong.
