Just pokin' fun. All joking aside, I agree with Gene in the way that every artist has a right to protect his or her financial interests.
i can't belive the sh*t that i'm reading on some of these post.first the kiss dvds sold more then some movies did,their box set went platium,so just because you don't like them you can't change facts and say they can't sell anything because it's not true.
i love the beatles but kiss broke a lot of their attendence records all of the world and they still stand today.
the bands today can't even carry the guitars for the bands of the 70s and 80s like kiss,bob segar, ac/dc,van hellen,guns and roses,motley crue and other bands from that time.
the bands today can't even sing,hell all they do is hollar their asses off and they sond like all they are doing is makeink noise.it was bands like kiss and other bands from that time that made it possiable for today bands,hell it was kiss that help break the door down for bands today.
the worse thing that i've read is people making up reasons why it's allright to steal music,hell it cost a lot of money to make an album and then people stealing it and then have the nerve to say that it's allright to steal it is just pathetic and illigal.
the people that said it's allright to steal music because it's a new time and then say gene simmons is this and that need to stop and listen to what they are saying.it's the same damn thing as if they go to work for a week for 12hrs a day then at the end of the week when they go to get their checks they tell them that they will not get paid because it's a new time and it's alright to steal their labor.it's the same thing as stealing music.
i don't blame gene simmons and other singers that's against stealing music,and gene simmons is't the only one against it,hell they have about 99% of singers that's against it because that's their living.

I love reading all these little pro file sharing comments, about the rights to music, how it actually helps the artist, blah blah blah... What a load of s**t. You can bet that if it was your garage music being downloaded and swapped, you'd want to be paid for it!
And those that think file sharing actually helps the artist... WTF are you smoking? If I come in your place of business, or hell your HOME, and help myself to stuff how does that help you? Will my bragging about the exploits, and passing out of your items to random strangers somehow boost your business or make more money for you? What a completely ridiculous excuse for theft! You're passing stuff from one thief to another. You're not doing anyone a favor. This is especially true for the small, underground artist who has to have a REAL JOB in order to do music on the side. Every pirated song is a pay cut - one less dollar to put toward studio time, new instruments and upgrades, promo material - which is surprisingly expensive.
Make whatever excuse you like, stealing is stealing whether it's someone's tangible or intellectual property. Round 'em up and take 'em to court, Gene! I'll be laughing all the way to the studio!

Look folks I am not one that downloads free music and I rarely borrow someone elses cd's to put on my mp3 player but I am worried about this going to far like not letting me put my new cd on my mp3 or ipods because I have to pay to put it on them.
I get the giving away music but let's be honest record sales are not slowing look how quickly albums are certified gold or platinum now days it used to be a big deal now within weeks of release many are certified. I don't think the industry really needs to prevent me from putting the cd I paid for on my player or even why should I feel bad if I burn a cd for my car with just the songs I like on it? That is where the industry is going nuts. They need to find a medium it was their encouragement that gave us the technology for mp3's and ipod's now they complain if we transfer their albums onto those formats. they can't have it both ways either we can transfer it to the other formats or we can't like DVD's. This boohooing has got to stop. How can any of you feel sorry for some of these artists not getting their pennies for each sale and lets face it if the CD sells for $15.00 then how much of that goes to the artist? They can't even buy a cheeseburger for their take. Now I don't want to hear from some of you that if you times each CD by some infintesmal number look at what they are out. Rather if an album goes gold that is how many millions of albums sold? now how many people "give away" the disk? how many people also pay to download individual songs or even complete albums, they get those procedes too. So how much are they really loosing out on?
The highest selling individual artist of all time (last week surpassing Elvis' sales) is Garth Brooks, I get his being angry over scalpers, it isn't good for him or his fans, but how much of his income is dependant on cd sales?
i guess maybe the musical artists and or the recording industry need to develop some kind of encryption technique such that intellectual property such as music etc can not be downloaded from computer to computer?After all some of these folks work very hard to produce their music and they should receive their compensation ? Of course with the advent of file sharing that compensation has been very much diminished ? Which ,given the high prices of records in the stores more than likely would indicate the publics disfavor with the prices they're being charged for said records ?I suppose it'll all work itself out eventually ? Its like the old " feast and famine " antecdote ? The artists have feasted somewhat merrily in the last 40 years or so and now its turned around ?

Finally fans can actually hear what they may determine they will or will not invest in. I have downloaded songs that I liked and when out and purchased cd's of the artists afterwards. The record companies have been ripping off consumers for decades, and now are getting what they deserve.

Downloading shared music is not stealing... not any more than someone loaning you an old cassette or cd is stealing.
Most of the music I download, I wouldn't pay for anyway. If I want to have one song from 1993 by a particular artist, I can't buy it unless I look around for the cd (if I can find it), and then I end up paying for 9 other songs I don't even want.
Teh new artists can get their name out more quickly... exposing their music to more people... therefore, maybe building a fan-base that much quicker. The established artists already make big bucks... and most of it is from touring... not from record sales. The more people share their music, the bigger the crowd when they tour = mo money.
well if i'm a recording artist and i pay for studio time and other musicians and equipment, i have to recoup those expenses somehow. if i sell 10 cd's and 100 people swap tracks for free, i'm losing money and that makes me a sad panda.
