PhotoVu's 17-inch RSS-enabled digital photo frame, the 1765W
We've seen a few WiFi and RSS enabled digital photo frames from PhotoVu in the past, but they've all been overly large for our city-sized living spaces, which is why we're happy to see the somewhat more reasonable 17-inch 1765w make its debut. The 16:10 frame reads all the obvious digital camera formats, but unlike most other frames, it includes plugins for popular apps like Picasa and iPhoto that let you handle file management directly inside your photo app, instead of having to play the scale-and-export game. Like all of PhotoVu's other frames, the 1765w also features an RSS reader and web server for completely remote administration, and integration with services like Flickr, SmugMug, and .mac. Of course, all this hotness is going to cost you -- the 1765w runs a steep $699 direct from PhotoVu.

Yep... nice... nice feature... like that... HOLY! 699?!?!
thanks a lot! Now I have coffee all over my monitor :)
I think I can print and frame for all the walls in my house for $700.
Or I could just buy a laptop for that price.
Yep, and do more...
This is when I reference my comment on another similar article.

Oh it was on the 22" version of this product.
I see the smaller ones all over the office now. It feels "futuristic"
I swear, digital frames are the dumbest invention of the century, feels like they're a way to dump dated LCDs (overstock) on us at a ridiculous premium.
$700. They're out of their damn minds. For that money you can get a pretty decent 17" laptop. That money is getting pretty close to a nicely discounted 42" HDTV and I can hook a spare computer up to that for any RSS picture crap not to mention the HDTV has a SD card reader to do picture slide shows.
I've always thought these were a brilliant idea. It's a shame they aren't even moderately affordable. I think I'd consider paying $150 for one if it was large and if it had silent video clip playing capabilities.
the price should come down in time. it's just what we need, more features and more competition, please.
You are right. Like with all electronical stuff, the price should go down. However, I don't think as fas as $150 as michaelportent mentioned.

Looks like child abuse to me.
At first I thought it used 1765 Watts. If somebody would spend 700 bucks on this I doubt they have a problem wasting 1765 watts. :)
