Transcend joins the 16GB SDHC Class 6 party
We already saw A-DATA unveil what it claimed was the "world's first" 16GB SDHC card in the Class 6 family, and now Transcend is hitting us all up with a very viable alternative. The card guarantees a minimum write speed of 6MB/second, includes ECC to automatically detect and fix errors and sports a lifetime warranty, too. Not a lot to say beyond that -- especially considering the glaring lack of a price or ship date -- but we doubt you'll be waiting too much longer before seeing this on store shelves.

I'm soon to buy a Cowon D2 4gb but am gunna get an 8gb card anyway. On ebay they're around 60 and the last time i checked the 16gb are around 180. You do the math.

Ahh!! I want the cowan d2 too! I looked around and it's amazing. (I.E. accepts .avi files!)

The D2 is really nice, it's too bad more PMPs didn't follow suit and use SD(HC) expansion, just one more thing to love about Cowon. Does your battery last an insanely long time? I listen to mine constantly and the only charging it ever gets is when I plug it in to the computer to transfer music, but that's worked pretty well; I'm about to have to charge it for the first time since August!

Amazing how far we've come with respect to capacity.

Awesome. Now if Nintendo would update the Wii to support SDHC, and allow us to run VC games off of the card....
bigassmuffin @ Nov 17th 2007 11:34PM
Or if Nintendo can just do what they did with the N64, all the saving was on the games; not a card. I would love to have that option again

Damn optical media, I want cartridges.
The wipe on the sleeve has nothing on blowing along the connectors.

Makes a perfect companion for the EEE PC

I don't know about you but many people CAN download at 6Mb/s, including me.
Now if you meant 6 MB / second (as posted for the R/W speed of this well that's a little different, but judging that you probably only posted to spam your worthless garbage pile of a website, I doubt you really care if you got the correct measurment in there.
Kudos to you sir.
k0an @ Nov 17th 2007 11:16PM
16 GB / 6 MB/s = almost 45 minutes to fill the thing up!
Bloghead @ Nov 17th 2007 11:53PM
Yup, would be great to use it for the Eee pc. Could fill it up with more songs, movies, games etc. I'm sold!
thethirdmoose @ Nov 17th 2007 11:55PM
I don't know about this... Flash is all good and well if you need something super thin and light, but its slow and expensive compared to hard drives. And how many super thin and light gadgets are going to have all the extra space that an SD card takes up?

I sure wish Apple would implement SDHC card slots for all their devices. If they come out with that subnotebook minus an optical drive, an SDHC slot sure would come in handy.
I've been using a Sonnet SDHC adapter in my MacBook Pro along with a Kingston 8GB SDHC card ($75). I'm able to put movie files on the card and play it off that without using the hard drive to get longer battery life.
As soon as the price comes down, I'll replace it with the 16GB card.
JDELUNA @ Nov 18th 2007 12:03PM
Please remember that some of the SDHC cards that you purchase from EBAY are either fakes or manufacture rejects. Example is that they may be passed on as 16Gb SDAC but after using it a few times, the capacity falls down to 8Gb or does not work at all. Hope this helps. God Bless.
BowserUSC @ Nov 18th 2007 5:38PM
I actually have the Patriot card people are mentioning which I bought to use with my eee pc.
