I was on the software team that helped build the Expert System that did the matching, and it was absolutely hilarious. We teamed with a group from Nordstrom, and they would always say things like "You could never wear that belt with those pants. Thats an evening belt, and those are day pants." Six guys in jeans and polos had one heck of a time crafting the rules for womens high fashion.
The closest never caught on, but the concept of trying to upsell you on a entire outfit did. Not sure how Accenture did with the idea, but I've seen the same concept from various online retailers.
