Canon's 5D Mark II rumor gets another jolt
Here's a sure fire way to set rumors in motion: list an unannounced, though hotly rumored camera in a pull-down list on your website. Right there you've got the Canon 5D Mark II. That's it, just a name in a list on a reputable software vendor's bug tracking page. Legitimate leak, idle speculation, or dastardly ploy to drive traffic to PhaseOne -- that's the real question. Proof? Hardly, unless you're already a believer.

One can always hope it's sooner rather than later.

I was sitting at my desk looking at the top part of that picture and thinking,"It would be fun to mess with people by putting some rumored camera in a form on my popular website." Then I scrolled down and read the paragraph that said almost the exact same thing!

This is like the rumors about the 1D Mk. III, 1Ds Mk. III, 40D, etc. Yeah, they were going to happen. That much is apparent, but the real question becomes "when?" I can't shoot with a camera that doesn't exist, so I cease to care about rampant "what if" speculation. YMMV.

The reason they don't say anything about the camera is because of the NDAs that cover the alpha testing of the product. Why would they place a product under the guise of a NDA on a public web page? Well it's only a page setup to handle user related feedback, nope, no idea at all why it could be listed.
Go take a Prozac then report something meaningful.

As a pro wedding photographer, I can definitely see the added value if Canon was to release an updated 5D. The 5D is probably the best DSLR for the money right now for those who can't afford the 1DsMk3. When the 5d mark II does come out, the original Mark III may not have a target audience anymore, with the lack of a full-frame sensor and all.

I hope Canon puts a up-to-date 3"+ VGA LCD on the MKII now that Sony and Nikon have set that new standard for semi-pro to pro DSLRs.

Nikon has really ramped up the competition with the D3 (after years of being behind). I bought the 5D when it first came out and have had 2 of them damaged due to being used in humid weather. Let's hope Canon releases a weather sealed 5DMk2 that will compete with the D3.
