DIY'er stuffs MAME machine into dinner table
Hot on the heels of Gamerator's stupendous MAME cabinet and AOTS "world's largest arcade machine" comes a DIY project that gives both of the aforementioned products a run for their money. The aptly-titled IKEA MAME Dinner Table cleverly crams a MAME machine into a standard dinner table, which we're absolutely sure any warm-blooded mother (and / or gamer) could appreciate. The table can slide open to reveal a 15-inch LCD, Happ Controls and an Ultimarc I-PAC, and while a myriad games can be played, the creator's personal favorite is the famed Ms. Pacman. Click on for a couple more looks, and then head on to the read link for a slew of pics from the underside.

Awesome. But! Despite claiming that he exclusively plays Ms. Pac-man on it, he only posts pictures of the device playing the original Pac-man, evident from the lack of a bow on the title character, the orange ghost being named Clyde rather than sue, and the walls not being a solid color.
I call shenanigans!
Next up.
I believe the phrase you meant was "got nexts."
Does it really need a keyboard sitting on a nearby chair mucking up an otherwise nice looking setup? I like the idea, but this ones a little ghetto if you ask me. Props to him anyway. I just wouldn't be a fan of a dangling keyboard, a mouse, and a cord all attached to my dinning room table.
I remember playing Frogger on a device exactly like this in a broken-down apartment above some corner store 15 years ago. It's about time those DIY'ers caught up!
My only issue with this is that he didn't put the entire computer into the table.
It's sitting on the floor next to it. Right in prime space for someone sitting at the table. That's no good. I mean, would it have been so hard to put the motherboard and HD to the underside of the table? There looks to be plenty enough room on either side of the table to put the computer. And with how you can suspend the computer to ram/disk now it makes no sense not to.
Also, why not make a hole in the leaf, and put a peice of glass on top. Then you can have the monitor display stuff while you are eating. Winamp visualiations for instance.
So... Much... Left... UNDONE!
Also, this is the table that is used in the make.

i love it and it looks very clean.
way better than MS-Surface
There's nothing more satisfying than building your own cabinet. Especially when you load it up with classic console games. Also, if you've got a copy of Doom lying around, you can download a port called Doom Legacy which supports multiplayer splitscreen.
This is nothing new! Practically the same machine has been commercially available, and has been inside my local Kobe Steakhouse. They have it in the bar area for people to play with while having a drink and waiting for the rest of their table to arrive.
Yay. And now he can play all the 25-year-old games he wants.
Should have directed the funds into a kitchen upgrade.
That is a kitchen upgrade!
