PlayStation Store for PSP goes live in the US
The online Playstation Store for the PSP just quietly went live on our side of the world with two downloadable PSP titles, 16 PSone titles, and a handful of themes, wallpapers, and videos. Wipeout Pure and Syphon Filter: Combat Ops are the first two $10 PSP games out of the gate, and highlights of the PSone list include Twisted Metal 2, Crash Bandicoot, and Tekken 2, all for $6. The store requires the download of a Windows-only loader app to transfer files to your PSP -- and now, after waiting all this time for PS3-free downloads, we're kinda wondering why we can't sync up over WiFi. Eh, don't let our grumpy whining bother you -- go get your game on and let us know how things are working for you in comments.

Yup. Booo... Although, us Mac users can just boot into Windows. W/e.
Craig @ Nov 20th 2007 6:45PM

Been waiting for this!

Good job on a job well done way too late.

This is great news. I dusted off my PSP for the GOW demo and I'll definitely check this out and check out some stuff like Castlevania for $10.
On another note, the site itself is TERRIBLE. They break the back button randomly and they're using HTML to scale large images down to 100x100 for the thumbnail navigation. That's like Web Dev 101. Sad.
Espiox @ Nov 20th 2007 6:36PM
It's also available in Europe.

Surely he can. There's the ps3 you know.
Chris_3D @ Nov 21st 2007 7:26AM
No....not the PS3, it's called PSP custom firmware.

WTF? Games via the "Canadian" interface are $15.99/$10.99?
Doesn't Sony know the dollar is pretty much at par? It's certainly not a 60% increase in prices!
Robert @ Nov 20th 2007 6:59PM
Isn't the Canadian dollar worth more than the American dollar still? lol
1.00 CAD = 1.01869 USD
Too funny.
Silver R. Wolfe @ Nov 20th 2007 8:55PM
Actually, the CAD is kicking the USD's ass all over the place.
ark_v2 @ Nov 20th 2007 11:27PM
Damn it. It doesn't work in Mexico (HA! What a surprise). I hate this. I can only order small things from Amazon and Mercado Libre (ebay in Latin America) and all the music I buy comes with DRM since the coolest stores (Amazon's beta and Zune Marketplace for me) aren't avalible here.
Ronturon @ Nov 21st 2007 2:45AM
finally!!!
Supraman8402 @ Nov 21st 2007 2:51AM
At last, they finally bypass the PS3, about bloody time. I'll probably end up buying a PS3 on Black Friday anyways so it's a day late (and from the look of the website) a buck short. Now if they can just hurry along FFVII quicker than they did the website I'll be happy :)
Reader @ Nov 21st 2007 3:22AM
Wow, why wasn't this done when the psp LAUNCHED?? I would have probably bought it.
Brandon @ Nov 22nd 2007 8:24PM
MS needs to at LEAST support the older OS' a little bit
masa @ Nov 21st 2007 12:16PM

il sell my psp for a pound
any takers?
Marty @ Dec 6th 2007 1:54PM
NICE!! Maybe I can find some old PS1 games to play... cause I still haven't found a *great* game to play on the PSP. I really need to utilize my PSP and all it's functions more. It's really a pretty loaded device when you add it all up. I used to have a DS and got bored with it... so much more you can do w/ PSP. Downside being the sucky games of course.
