I-O Data reveals array of HDL-GS NAS drives
I-O Data isn't just worried about the longevity of your pocketable storage -- oh no, it's quite concerned with availability of data in your domicile, too. In an effort to ensure that every computer on your network has fair and unbridled access to external storage, the firm has unveiled a line of HDL-GS NAS drives that include 250GB, 320GB, 500GB and 1TB editions. Each LANDISK drive plays nice with Windows and OS X-based systems, touts an integrated USB port and includes a gigabit Ethernet jack, too. Beyond that, this crew is pretty run-of-the-mill, but you can pick one up to suit your needs in mid-December for ¥24,360 ($221), ¥26,565 ($241), ¥31,080 ($282) or ¥74,655 ($676), respectively.

If you are using osx just make sure you copy your files, and stay away from the move command or else you will lose all your stuff;)
And if you are using XP or Vista, no worries at all!
and if you are using linux there are no issues.
And if you are using a filing cabinet...
no, wait, if so, you're probably not quite "surfing the 'net" yet.
So has it been tested under Linux? Is this one of those generic devices where you don't need special drivers?
Basically, I'm wondering why they mentioned Windows /and/ OSX, but not Linux--
because the statement would have been false had Linux been added to the list by the author
because the statement /may/ have been false if -^
or because the author didn't feel like Linux was worth mentioning for some reason?
because there is probably backup software included for mac/windows and not linux/bsd.. most external hdd's do not mention linux/bsd, but i have used many, and they always work. infact, only device i have that actually mentions linux on it anywhere is my sandisk cruzers.
If it works in windows, it probably works in Linux using Samba and any of your favorite copy/sync tools.
They are probably talking about purpose built backup/sync software.
You can buy two 500GB models for the price of one 1TB model...
I wouldn't buy two 500GB it would just be nice if the pricing were closer together, I may have to settle with the 500GB
