Newman-Hyun slaps a 12 megapixel camera on the L1200 PMP
Apart from format support and blatant KIRFage, there's usually not much to distinguish one Chinese "MP4" player from another, so Newman's L1200 PMP is quite the standout with its 12 megapixel camera. Mounted cell-style on the edge of the device alongside a flash, the cam swivels 180 degrees to take regular shots or 30fps video of your smiling face. Other features include a 3-inch QVGA touchscreen, SD expansion, non-specific AVI video support, and a variety of shooting modes and setting for that cam. Not much else is known, but at just $132, it's worth a splurge if you ever see it outside of China.

Those mega-pixels don't mean a thing with a lens like that D:

I bet it is 1.2 MP instead of 12 MP. Their marketing team made (intentional?) typo.
There is no way a $100 camera would have a 12 MP sensor of that tiny size. NO way!

I bet the sensor has more noise than a Disaster Area concert.
(obscure reference ahoy!)

at least it isn't black. with a black screen, with black background, and black buttons, and black icons.

If it had that much noise, all of China may rise into the air, flip like a pancake, and land again, transforming its desert plateaus to a blooming garden. In 5 years, Beijing scientists would publish a paper on the effects of an improbability field, and it would be propelling cars in another year, but the US wouldn't sell said cars for another 20.

I'd be willing to bet thats actually just something like a 3mp CCD interpolated up to 12mp. That thing will have a phone sized sensor in it for sure, and last time i checked, nobody makes one that high res.

These Chinese PMP makers do take some chances, all they need is a push in the right direction. Some of these products actually look promising
