Self-Destruction Button returns in miniaturized form
Who could forget the famed Big Red Button of Doom from 2005? Sure, nearly three years have passed since its inception, but there's nothing like a little (literally) impostor to conjure up memories of the not-too-distant past. Available now, the miniature Self-Destruction Button comes in black, white and green motifs, fits snugly in the palm of one's hand and even doubles as a keychain. This highly portable device ensures the instant vaporization of your person and most of your surroundings should you find yourself in some horrifically inescapable situation, or, something to that effect, anyway. Grab yours now for $26.94 -- Y3K is just around the bend!

Somehow I don't think the DHS and TSA are going to appreciate the humor...
Wwhat @ Dec 1st 2007 9:31AM
Well fuck them then, what are we? slaves?
eric f. @ Dec 1st 2007 10:29AM
@ Wwhat,
that'll be a nice attitude when you're detained and receive a body cavity search. It's illegal to even joke and say the word "bomb", let alone have a toy detonator for one.
ssuk @ Dec 1st 2007 10:40AM
I don't know many detonators with "Made in Taiwan" written on them...

Wwhat: You obviously haven't been to an airport in the past 6 years. If you want to fly, you are their bitch. Don't do what they say and at the least you don't fly, at the worst, you end up spending atleast a night in jail. Who's your daddy? Oh wait, you don't fly, that's sticking it to the man! Don't forget to hold your fist out the window on your drive from NY to LA.
ssuk: I don't know of many bombs that look like a LED display in the shape of a cartoon character but look what happened in Boston...

I am definitely getting one of these - will keep people out of my lab!
If I could only figure out how to complete the order!
Jamar @ Dec 1st 2007 10:01AM
Don't order from there. They tack on $30 for international orders to cover shipping+insurance. Order from http://www.audiocubes.com/category/Electronics+and+Accessories_Computer+Accessories/product/Cube_Collection_Self-Destruct_Button_USB_Hub.html instead.
moon.razzia @ Dec 1st 2007 7:50AM

It's also available in both original and keychain sizes from ThinkGeek.com. (I have no affiliation, but it's a US site for the US folks.)

For some reason I picture this as the button that flushes my toilet.
Alex Padilla @ Dec 1st 2007 9:43AM

Now I know where Staples got the "Easy Button" idea from.
JoeNet @ Dec 1st 2007 2:21PM
That would be great if it was also a card reader. I would get one.
Jhongerkong @ Dec 1st 2007 6:56PM
not a good idea to give your email away, especially with sites like this:

oh, wait...
Baluki @ Dec 1st 2007 9:48PM
Oh, it'll cause you to self-destruct all right. But not in the way you expect. Just drop it in the tray at the airport when taking the metal objects out of your pockets (like your keys, which will probably be attached to it) and watch yourself get your ass shot.
maxmasa31 @ Dec 2nd 2007 4:21AM
Kinda old news... I bought one in Japan a month ago and they've been out since July or August.
Givorden @ Dec 2nd 2007 7:56PM
Ummm.... "Y3K" is still 992 years away.
I guess it would be Y2K8 or Y2K+8 or something simlar.
Yeah yeah I know!.... semantics... sorry I couldn't help myself.
Jason @ Dec 3rd 2007 1:49PM
Why would buy it from that site for $27 when thinkgeek has it for $9?
