Yet more 32GB and 2GB Creative Zen confirmation
As if the last two reports about a 32GB Zen from Creative weren't enough for you, here's another for a lazy Saturday. This time, Crave claims to have an unspecified confirmation that a 2GB and 32GB Zen is coming, and it's coming in flash form. Would that make this the highest capacity flash PMP out there? It'd certainly be pipping Sansa to the post.

I'll buy the 2gig. I'm lookin for a decent priced and decent quality player and a creative looks right. Too bad its not confirmed
Jake @ Dec 1st 2007 4:19PM
You won't be sorry with the 2 GB, although there's no way I could fit all my media onto it. I have Zune 80 and I'll run out of space here in a few weeks...
But this player's sound quality is incredible. Probably the best sounding flash player available.
twist_serv @ Dec 2nd 2007 9:52PM
You have to try Cowon D2 (with decent earphones)
Alan Partridge @ Dec 1st 2007 6:06PM
^The 2GB will still have an SD slot though right? So you could still get a decent amount of content on there
mushrooshi @ Dec 1st 2007 4:27PM
Thats a nice looking slick MP3 player.
I haven't liked Creative's interface since I played with the Vision:M and the Zen Sleek.
This looks like a sweet upgrade.
Ricardo @ Dec 1st 2007 4:33PM
Well, I still prefer using my cellphone. It does everything a PMP does plus A2DP support, and I only have to carry one device.
sevenalive @ Dec 1st 2007 8:24PM
Ya i got a slvr l7e, does the same thing, and yes its better than the iphone!!!!!!
Mobius_1 @ Dec 2nd 2007 12:38AM
I would totally agree with you if my phone had more than 2GB, what's more, I've yet to see a phone with more than 8GB, and yes, some people do need that much storage.
Sean @ Dec 1st 2007 4:34PM
Looks like my Zen Vision:M can finally be retired.
WL @ Dec 2nd 2007 5:56PM
I was thinking the same thing until I found out this has no native xvid or divx support :(
Maybe I'll consider the Sansa View if SanDisk releases a 32 GB model
freakmarket @ Dec 1st 2007 4:39PM
I had the 4gb version when it launched ... it was a great music player but terrible video ... and it's high capacity SD card can't be cataloged with the player's main memory media.
I ebayed it and went back to my Zune 30.
pball_inuyasha @ Dec 1st 2007 7:23PM
Could you elaborate on that please? I was thinking about one of these for when I need a new mp3 player.
Bob @ Dec 1st 2007 5:44PM
What was the gap between songs like on the Zen, as opposed to the Zune? One of my best friends has a Zune and he let me play with it 2 weeks ago and the gap between songs is worse than my 2.5 year old Dell DJ30 that I still use that has a gap of virtually nothing.
I've seen the Zen at Circuit City and at Fry's, but they've never had earphones (or enough media on it) to test the gap between songs.
I listen to a ton of live concert music and gapless playback is a very important feature to me.
freakmarket @ Dec 2nd 2007 10:46AM
For good video playback your video needs to be 20 fps or less ... otherwise there is dropped frames.
As far as the space in between songs i can't tell you because it's not something i look for ... sorry :(

Here is some more info. It will be released in the EU for 400 Euro.

Give some props to it! ZVM left many ppl happy and proud to be a part of the family, Zen is a welcome addition and should peak in greatness sometime before '09... at least 'till an HDD based PMP comes. Like a ZV80GIG, nice.
Neebs @ Dec 1st 2007 7:02PM
I think Creative will probably do the smart thing and make the 2GB and 32GB. So far on this line they are doing great in reviews and comments, and I'll be able to say for myself in 24 days and 12 hours.
James Yopp @ Dec 1st 2007 7:05PM
I'm just interested in those sans-wire earbuds in the press shot. Is that for-real, or just another competitor who can't figure out how to beat the iPod? Hint: Apple makes the headphone cables sexy. They're prominent in iPod advertising. If they are real, though, that's reason enough to buy.
Jon @ Dec 1st 2007 7:40PM
So you buy your MP3 players based on how cool the earphones look? Not how good the fidelity is?
If you want a real earbud go get a Sony A818. The included in-ear earphones is better than many mid-range retail earphones.
Iain @ Dec 1st 2007 8:00PM
'Sexy'?
You mean those crappy white earphones that get you mugged?
Who cares if they're 'prominent' or not, they're headphones and so the only factors that matter are sound quality and how comfortable they are.
Also, Apple's success has nothing to do with the earphones they bundle.
It's to do with the fact that they spend huge amounts on advertising and have more brand recognition than all their competitors put together. That and favouring style over features/functionality.
Future Man @ Dec 1st 2007 8:46PM
"It's to do with the fact that they spend huge amounts on advertising and have more brand recognition than all their competitors put together. That and favouring style over features/functionality."
This doesn't change the fact that the iPod is a damn solid MP3 player. No amounts of advertising, brand recognition, or style would be sufficient enough to sell millions upon millions of players. Fact is, iPod is solid enough of a player and most people don't care about stuff like FM radio or expandable SD memory like techies do. Stop deluding yourself.
Bobs @ Dec 1st 2007 9:36PM
Were not "most people". My archos gets all the iPod envy when i whip it out and watch 1 out of my 8 movie library (its only 30gigs :( ). Or when I went camping, I used it to store pictures when my 512 mb card filled up, without a computer. The iPod is an alright MP3 player, but a horrible movie player, the screen is too small, and the way overpriced headphones that come packaged with them is direct proof that because it looks "cool" dosent mean its good, those things are horrible comfort design, my ears start to hurt about a half hour into wearing them.
so while you go look "cool" with your fancy iPod, ill go with the better player, the uncool one.
Neebs @ Dec 1st 2007 10:33PM
The iPod is a solid mp3 player...but it isn't the best, nor does it have the best features.
James Yopp @ Dec 2nd 2007 6:11AM
The for-real part at the end means, if it has wireless earbuds, I'll be glad to find a place for it in my gadget collection. The comment was about the advertisement. Advertising a player with wireless earbuds like that is a pretty poor representation of the end-user experience. I see I poked the ant-pile, though. ^_^
Homeboy @ Dec 1st 2007 7:51PM
My one and only problem with this device is the D-pad. It's very in efficient to use when going through lists and it's not very comfortable to use either.
pvs @ Dec 1st 2007 8:20PM
The problems with this device are that you have to resize all your videos to 320x240 to use on this device, plus the expansion SD cards can't be cataloged with the player's main memory.
Jon @ Dec 1st 2007 8:23PM
I agree with the QVGA statement. A bit bummer but I guess having processor or co-processor capable with dealing with none optimized files would decreased the battery life and increase the overall size of the unit. The SD card thing isn't a main factor (at least for me) as 32GB seems plentiful, though still a bit bummer.
resource @ Dec 1st 2007 11:25PM
If this was 3.5" instead of 2.5" I'd buy this ASAP.
Maybe they'll announce something at CES?
DP @ Dec 2nd 2007 1:11AM
Two things: bigger screen, and $300.
PenaltyKillah @ Dec 2nd 2007 3:52PM
Okkie... when I said that technology evolves fast, I never said that fast! Go Creative Go... but it's CNET UK. For a site that placed Windows Vista as the #1 worst product, ignoring some of its finer points... I can't put my head into it.
But 32GB? First the 16GB ZEN V Plus, and now Creative's creating history again?
But if it's 32GB, then I get why Creative's unofficially calling it the de facto successor of the ZEN Vision:M. And Micro PMPs like the ZEN, along with the Meizu M6 miniONE, iriver clix 2G, and the Cowon D2 may finally be recognized fully.
Brumbo @ Dec 2nd 2007 6:52PM
I am probably the one and only unhappy Creative customer - my ZVM 30GB has had many issues right from the start, battery life sucks, can't play MPEG4 and stuff like that. And the sound quality doesn't seem to be much better than, err, The Other One
Nerdelphia @ Dec 3rd 2007 8:35AM
And here I thought the Cowon D2 players would be king of the flash players seeing how that's the only other player that supports SDHC cards.
Lower the price of the 32gig player though and you have yourself a winner. Or is that price reflective of how expensive flash memory is at the moment? :\
