The finger, improved: Pogo Stylus answers iPhone's unasked question
We kinda thought that the iPhone's interface was designed to be used and mastered without so much as a fleeting moment of longing for a pointing implement -- once you get past the keyboard's growing pains, anyway -- but we suppose the automatic mental association between touchscreens and styli can be a tough one to break. Enter Ten One Design's meticulously engineered $24.95 Pogo Stylus, which the firm says functions "like a fingertip" to integrate seamlessly with the finger-friendly UI used throughout the iPhone and iPod touch. Imagine that! What's more, it's manufactured from aluminum alloy in your choice of three stylish colors, which is awesome news since it's prominently featured on your iPhone's side in a custom holster. If only Ten One had put a screw top on this thing so that we could fill it with pixie dust, whiskey, or $25 in shredded US currency, we'd be in.

So.. they made an aluminum Q-tip?
It's for people who are finger-tip challenged. Hint: most of them are probably nicknamed "stumpy".
Okay. How would zoom in/out with a stylus when (last I checked) the iPhone requires you to use two fingers?
Why you buy a second one of course; you didn't seriously think that they would make it all nice and easy for you, did ya?
But srsly, wtf; WHY
Use two like chopsticks :) Sushi anyone?
The only justification I can think of for this thing would be Winter.
(i.e., people wearing gloves and unable/unwilling to easily touch their iPhone directly.)
Even still, this seems like a lot of bulk added to a snazzy iPhone for little reason.
Actually, there ARE a use-case for this that I can think of: people who grow out their nails or get them done (chiefly females and finger-style guitar players), people with prosthetics, and those who have poor dexterity due to some medical condition. Then there's people who are obsessive/compulsive about fingerprints. . .Anything that extends the [market's] reach of the iPhone might be considered reasonable accessory by some, even though it isn't for everyone.
So I'm supposed to buy a Stylus, for a Phone/PDA that doesn't require it, only so I can lose it at some point and have to buy another one to replace it?
LAME!
Great for the Canadians with iPhones, I've been thinking about buying one for the cold winter months. Zooming is questionable, but I don't think I'll do much web browsing when it's -40 C outside.
Just because it's not applicable to you, doesn't mean there isn't a large market for it.
ditto to coyotej
i love the Sketches app and the POGO is exactly what i need to make visual notes on it. if you take as many pictures that need annotations as me, you'd think the POGO is a godsend, too.
