TiVo rolls out Picasa, Photobucket integration
TiVo owners with Picasa or Photobucket accounts just got another way to view their photos on their TVs -- everyone's favorite DVR company announced deals with both services today that will allow users to access their photos from any TiVo device. Photos will be pulled down at the highest resolution your TiVo supports, so Series3 and TiVo HD owners will get HD-res images displayed, and what's more, users can also access friends' photo albums. The feature should be rolling out starting today -- between this and that Rhapsody partnership, it seems like TiVo is starting to get serious about branching into the still-dormant media streamer / extender market.[Via TG Daily]

Seriously. I love Picasa. This ought to make sharing photos with the grandparents that much more fun.

Tivo and Picassa the best of both worlds. Can't wait to try this when I go home tonight...

"that will allow users to access their photos from any Tivo device."
The article doesn't state that anywhere.
From the article, this will work "provided that their TiVo boxes are broadband-connected", which means you can't use it if you have a DirecTV Series 2 TiVo (Unless you've hacked it; in which case you still won't be able to access it.)

You go Tivo, you tame and organize that internet content for the home big screens! Love ya, you pop’eyed bastage you ;^)...
PS can’t wait to be able to enter favorites (thumbs up, keywords, etc.) on items like, oh I don’t know, Brazilian bubble butts or Skyline GT-R’s and you go out across the inter webs (like a little agent) and retrieve the, um “goods” (videos, pics, etc) for viewing when I get home from work (you know cause some of us work and don’t have time to troll the web). That would be Sick Slick I tells ya, Sick Slick!

Tivo used to work with Yahoo photos.
Then Yahoo bought Flickr.
Then Tivo, instead of going with Yahoo's Flickr, goes with Google's Picasa.
Between this and Sony ImageStation merging into Shutterfly.... a photo-sharer's nightmare.
I wish Tivo and Flickr worked together, is that asking too much?
