LG's 13.3-inch P300 series of LED-backlit laptops
LG's dressing up the gear-waifs to roll out product again in South Korea. Up on the block is this, their new XNOTE P300-series of 13.3-inch LED backlit 1,280 x 800 laptops. The top-end, ?2,600,000 (about $2,810) model touts a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo T7500 processor, 2GB of memory, 256MB of NVIDIA Geforce 8600M graphics, 250GB of disk, super multi-drive disc, 1.3 megapixel camera, integrated WWAN, and HDMI out. Although we'd appreciate a few more pixels on that screen, an easy on the shoulder 1.6-kg (3.5-pounds) weight is sounding might fine.

If it weren't for the eyes, those girls would be pretty hawt.
ByronGman @ Dec 4th 2007 3:46AM
Funny you would mention eyes, your sight is obviously impaired.
Or are you just blinded by racism?
Husar @ Dec 4th 2007 4:03AM
I think he means that they are black (or brown) eyes not their shape... Green or Blue eyes would look better on them
Eric @ Dec 4th 2007 1:01PM
I have to agree about the eyes, but it's not the color. The one on the left looks surprised and the one on the right looks asleep. They're pretty, but not as pretty as the girls we usually see on Engadget.
Will @ Dec 4th 2007 6:18PM
Wow, you guys are quick to pull the racist card.
I was meaning what Eric said.
super_tycoon @ Dec 4th 2007 2:02AM
First post! Though, seriously, considering the poopy resolution, the decent graphics chip, and the pretty high price, I would expect a tad more. But then again, I think my external hard drive weighs more than it.
Paris @ Dec 4th 2007 3:40AM
It took you 10 minutes to write that two line comment?
aoeu00 @ Dec 4th 2007 2:06AM
Ok girls, without looking, name the brand of notebook you are actually holding?
lettcco @ Dec 4th 2007 2:08AM
the one on the right looks like a perfect laptop...and I don't care if she is holding that thing or not while on my lap.
joe23521 @ Dec 4th 2007 11:13AM
I thought she worked for Samsung, what happened?
Patuxentbball @ Dec 4th 2007 2:21AM
The T7500 is 2.2GHz, not 2.4.
But these sound nice for being in such a small package.
Hung @ Dec 4th 2007 6:06AM
That's what she said.
...to you, not me. Damnit.
Lobsang @ Dec 4th 2007 11:15AM
that your name?
joe23521 @ Dec 4th 2007 11:21AM
Okay, Hung.
Patuxentbball @ Dec 4th 2007 1:20PM
@Hung
It's funny because I almost typed that exact thing with it. But the unspoken rule of "That's what she said" is that your not allowed to set yourself up for it. I'm glad you took the shot.
Hung @ Dec 4th 2007 11:10PM
Yeah, it had nothing to do with my name. That's my actual name, forget you guys.
It was in response to this comment:
"But these sound nice for being in such a small package."
I guess I sort of misread it and it didn't turn out to be the best TWSS.

8600M Video cards in a 13.3" laptop?!
NICE.. if LG can do it why does dell's m1330 not have that option?!
blkdragon @ Dec 4th 2007 3:10AM
...then again, why doesn't the MacBook have that?
celeritas @ Dec 20th 2007 5:18PM
I agree, a 8600M in a 13.3in lappie sounds good to me. I guess the days of having to buy a 17in notebook to get decent dedicated graphics are behind us.
ben @ Dec 4th 2007 2:59AM
"an easy on the shoulder 1.6-kg (3.5-pounds) weight is sounding *might* fine."
come on engadget, proof read your posts.
Luis @ Dec 4th 2007 3:22AM
3.5 pounds for that machine is awesome... 8600GT M
The screen could have been 1440x900 thou...
Michael @ Dec 4th 2007 8:33AM
The guy in a suit taking pictures of the models looks quite sharp in that *mighty fine* reflective (super glossy?) screen?
And yes, I second the opinion on why doesn't Dell or Apple put the Nividia 8600M (not GT) in their 13.3" models? -- however likely just *cost* factor?
sunny @ Dec 4th 2007 4:11AM
the model on the left side looks pretty scary!!!
shaliron @ Dec 4th 2007 5:30AM
Hmm, I would like to see those LED backlit 13" screens on the Macbook in six months time....
Wishful thinking :)
c2v4l @ Dec 4th 2007 7:53PM
I want one of this. I wonder if Dell could incorporate some of the technology use by LG to make their m1330 more lighter? even with led screen and SSD drives it wont go lighter than 1.9kg.
D @ Dec 4th 2007 9:19AM
Where and how does one buy an LG notebook in the states? And also, is that metal or plastic for the body of the notebook?
spam_from_engadget @ Dec 4th 2007 9:17AM
Does anyone know what improvement in battery life or weight they get from the LED backlight? It would be great if there were an otherwise-identical model to compare with.
Standingfast @ Dec 4th 2007 9:48AM
I think, especially in the case of the MacBook, it is a POWER cost factor, which is why the chip is not in there...
Fara @ Dec 4th 2007 10:01AM
It doesn't say GT. If you hit the read link, you'll see it's a 8600M GS and most likely a 8600M GS with 64-bit bus. That'll roughly be at the performance of a 8400M GS (like the one in Asus V2s). And 13.3" WXGA+ screens aren't available yet.
Ellianth @ Dec 4th 2007 10:43AM
look at all the shortcuts on the desktop. Imagine each shortcut belongs to 1 peice of bloatware. That'd suck!
shishyan @ Dec 4th 2007 10:51AM
Aren't they cute?
Bombaclaat @ Dec 4th 2007 11:33AM
asian girls are hot!
cmdwedge @ Feb 24th 2008 7:30PM
Why on Earth do I so passionately hate LG as a company? Their stuff always feels and looks like it's only a fraction better made/designed than Chinese knock-off crap.
Samsung as well, for that matter.
