"Sony" gaming PMP turns up on eBay
We've seen, shall we say, creative uses of well-known brands to sell cheapo gear in the past, but it's not often we see a case as brazen as the one above, which cavalierly throws Sony's familiar logo onto a generic Chinese PMP in an attempt, presumably, to give it a bit more cred. Of course, there is the little matter that the PMP boasts of its ability to play NES games, and the fact that it uses SD cards instead of Sony's beloved Memory Sticks -- which are certainly welcome features, but not exactly ones high on Sony's list. If for some reason you want to take a chance on the player, however, you can currently find one on eBay at the link below, with the bidding hovering around the $25 mark (as of this writing).

This is daylight rape of Intellectual Property!
I kinda feel nice how it targets big money making firms that shove their proprierty formats in u!!
Knockoff's FTW any1 ??
when did Sony stop using memorystick?? (insert more sarcasm here)
:)
The PS3 has SD and CF ports in addition to Memory Stick, plus you can use a good old USB flash drive. So, I suppose 'last year' is the answer to your question.

Is that my long lost sidekick?
oh wait...
I hate these guys, I report them whenever possible.
Or the idiots who sell the knock-off iPhones as the iPhone? Yea, they're just stupid. What bothers me the most is that they're so full of themselves that they think they can fool people, and often do (they stick one real picture of an iPhone in). Ugh. I hope they drive into a ditch one night.
by driving you mean riding a stolen bike into a ditch ;)
I'm trying to decode what it says on the right...IHTCOM NESGAN? Am I missing something here?
I believe that is the 'pause' screen.
Sometimes you see chicken scratches made to resemble Chinese writing, applied in an effort to make something look "cool."
I think that mishmash of letters is the Chinese equivalent. Doesn't it look cool?
My only problem with IP Law is that it prevents gamers from getting products that they really want with features that they really want simply because the companies that make those products aren't willing to spend the extra money for licenses.
I bought a new PSP wiith a 4GB Memory Stick that has ROMS from all the 8-bit systems and many ROMS from the 16-bit systems (over 200 in total). It works REALLY WELL (especially the SNES ROMS) and it only cost me $200.
It should have never happened because of IP law that I'd be able to use many different products from many different companies together.
This seller should consider themself reported to eBay :-)
You'll have a long day *cough* year ahead of you if you tried to report all the eBay accounts that don't abide by intellectual rights. Just look up "iPod" and you'll have a field day.
Crap. I JUST asked for a DS for Christmas.
The Chinese should make a knockoff of the DS and call it the Chintendo BS.
Lol, it's showing my favorite Pontiac Solstice video..
If I buy this and send it to you endgadget will you review it and send it back to me?
You're reading it wrong. That's an authentic "YNOS"!
ANOS you mean?
but can it play do..
dora the explorer?!
Don't report this! I want it!
It's really an Optimus PMP. They used to sell them on mp4nation.
I saw this thing in Thailand around Feb of this year for a lot more than 25 dollars.
