Xbox Live Video Marketplace to launch in Europe next week
Just over a year after launching the Xbox Live Video Marketplace in the US, Microsoft is finally ready to bring the service to Europe, with Computer and Video Gaming reporting that it'll open for business on December 11. Sadly, it looks like it'll be rental-only, at least at first, with 720p flicks going for 320 MS points (about £3.23, or $6.64) and SD movies for 250 points (about £2.13, or $4.39). Rentals will stick around on your hard drive for 14 days after you download them, but once you hit play they'll delete themselves after 24 hours -- a system which seems needlessly complicated to us, but we'll take what we can get. Peep the full list of titles available at launch after the break.

stop lying to yourself aye?
Ten Dolla Bill @ Dec 4th 2007 1:49PM
He's not lying to himself, read the official press release and educate yourself.
Scooter @ Dec 4th 2007 7:35PM
DivX and Xvid support is apparently out...and a much bigger story
Andrew @ Dec 4th 2007 1:26PM
Just to settle any pending questions, yeah, the Xbox360 can play Doom.
bob @ Dec 4th 2007 2:01PM
Don't trivialize the issue Andrew. Until our elected officials get their act together and make Doom compatibility mandatory on all electric devices, we must continue to ask this question.
Daniel D @ Dec 4th 2007 1:28PM
Haha yes Mars Attacks for the win!
Ak Ak Ak AK!

Fred @ Dec 4th 2007 2:45PM
Europe? Try just four countries in Europe. This is UK, Ireland, France and Germany only.
Fred @ Dec 4th 2007 2:46PM
Uhm, that wasn't meant to be a reply to you, sorry.

There are some good movies on the list.Keep in mind the list will be updated each month.
firephoenix @ Dec 4th 2007 2:45PM
Cool. I wondered that with the (very) recent update not including this feature, that this wouldn't be too far around the corner.
Philpott @ Dec 4th 2007 3:06PM
people begged for it and apparently Warner Bros. was the only studio interested. Don't blame M$.
Carbonize @ Dec 4th 2007 3:57PM
How big are these files? I only have 10GB free on my 360 after all the updates for the games and the dashboard etc.
Bogster @ Dec 4th 2007 4:35PM
I´ve had my xbox360 now for a year, and since day #1 i hate it so much, it sounds like shit, u hafto buy all these extra shit to get it workin, a hdd or memcard to update it and to update it u need a friggin xbox bs live account. their interface looks like crap, the dvd sounds like shit, its noizy as hell, i dont see any reason for me to keep it actually, if it wasent for the hd-dvd i bought for it that is fine, still sounds alot to but what can i say, its a ms bs product, btw, im a apple fanboy and i only own macs!, i tryed the new xvid/divx update and as always with ms products, its crap. Peace
Carbonize @ Dec 4th 2007 6:14PM
As you say you are an Apple Fanboy. What you don't say is you are an illiterate, brain dead moron.
1 - All versions of the 360 come with either a HD or a memory card so no you don't have to buy them seperate.
2 - Xbox Live Silver is FREE and includes the updates.
So please tell me what extas did you have to buy? You didn't have to buy the HD-DVD as that is not needed to enjoy the 360. If you don't like it go play games on your Mac. Oh wait you have even less games to choose from than PS3 owners.
Dorz @ Dec 4th 2007 6:30PM
I simply had to sign up just to reply to the nonsense above:
1 - If from day one you hated it so much, then why keep it?
2 - If from day one you hated it so much, then why even bother to buy a HD-DVD drive?
3 - What extras do you need for it to work? It comes with everything you need, hell it even comes with a component and or HDMI cable depending on which model you buy.
4 - Updating via the internet is the most flexible and cheapest way to update a system and it adds a safety net for fixing any problems that may occur with any games/software. Its also a great way for delivering new content...see point 5.
5 - You so completely don't seem to understand the concept of Xbox Live.
6 - The interface is meant to look and appeal to hardcore/enthusiast gamers, it’s functional, practical and just works. If you don't like it that’s your pigeon. Plus the 360 is noisy, however had you done any amount of homework before buying it, you would have known that its not the quietest thing around. Despite the noise I have to say that I think it is still quieter than most enthusiasts computers.
7 - Your not an Apple fanboy your an Apple fanboi, your arrogance and ignorance is testament to that.
8 - Last but not least, get a grip on your spelling and grammar. If you’re dyslexic, then fair enough, I apologise, but if your not then as I say get a grip.
On the issue at hand, its about time this service was made available over here, though my ISP won't be very happy :).
Tom @ Dec 4th 2007 6:42PM
Is it just me or is xbox live down at the moment? I can't get online now...
Carbonize @ Dec 4th 2007 7:09PM
Dunno as I'm at work but I do know that since the new update my 360 keeps crashing my router.
shamrock593 @ Dec 5th 2007 6:50AM
Um, Australia?
Please Microsoft, I would seriously stop downloading and buy off Video Marketplace if it existed in Australia.
dan g @ Dec 5th 2007 12:49PM
24 hours is never enough. They should at the very least give you 28 hours.
This is why I stopped using "On Demand" to watch movies. I start a movie @ 9pm, fall asleep partway through it, go to watch it the following night, but by 9pm its gone. Even friggin blockbuster gives you 2 nights.
