Hmmm.
If it were me and I had a diesel car I would just put in a Straight Veggie Oil conversion kit. A SVO kit runs about $2500 (or less if it is DIY).
Here in Maui we had the first company to process waste cooking oil into a usable fuel.
I've met with the owners of Pacific Biodiesel http://www.biodiesel.com/ and have learned a lot from them. Originally they started up to divert the veggie oil away from our landfill because it was causing fires and really becoming a problem.
Now Pacific Biodiesel has built 8 plants around the company that are based off a small community based model that uses waste veggie oil or locally grown crops. Pacific Biodiesel and others have set up the Sustainable Biodiesel Alliance http://www.sustainablebiodieselalliance.com/ to support community based energy production.
Biodiesel can't provide all the diesel fuel for the united states but it can provide a portion of our energy needs. Our future energy needs must be met by using a combination of technologies and of course we must focus on EFFICIENCY.
