Nokia gets official with 3G 6263 for T-Mobile
We already had a pretty good indication that this one was coming thanks to our pals at the FCC, but Nokia has just now gotten official with its 3G 6263 handset which, as we previously suspected, does indeed appear to be nearly identical to the Euro-centric 6267. Getting a slight downgrade from that model, however, is the camera, which now clocks in at just 1.3 megapixels as opposed to 2. You will get the same 2.2-inch QVGA display though, as well as the same built-in Bluetooth, microSD card slot, and usual range of internet and music player features. If that'll do, you should be able to grab one of these from T-Mobile right away.

OMG that phone is HUGE compared to the one next to it. What is it like 8" folded making it like 16" open? It's probably really heavy then, not too easy to carry in a pocket... Wha? It's just a close-up photo? Oh! Never mind... cool phone.
Mark Richardson @ Dec 5th 2007 12:12PM
Funny.
Mark @ Dec 5th 2007 12:01PM
Ugh, why does T-Mobile always downgrade the camera?
Flit @ Dec 5th 2007 12:07PM

majortom @ Dec 5th 2007 12:15PM
I've owned a couple Nokia's in the past. Never again. The battery life is about half a day. Best not be very far from a power source to recharge. I even tried an after market battery. Same results. As far as I'm concerned, all Nokia's are power hogs.
Tipo @ Dec 5th 2007 12:33PM
Lol every of those 30(or over?) phones models they make in a year all are power hungry?...aye. Not all are power hungry actually most of the S40 phonea arent power hungry(not to say that there arent some example 6300). I just dont think you can say with couple of phones you used from Nokia(must be US phones anyways?)that they are lousy in that area.
What phones you had btw?=)
Mark Richardson @ Dec 5th 2007 1:49PM
Evidently you aren't very informed.
majortom @ Dec 5th 2007 6:55PM
I will stand by my statement. I had a 6133. Not a high end phone anymore but at the time it was. Ran out of battery in 3 to 5 hours. Read the reviews of the N95. Same thing. Runs out of battery in hours/minutes depending how much of the many features you use. Maybe their simple phones don't run out of battery in a short time, but the ones with all the bells and whistles seem to.
Mike @ Dec 6th 2007 10:31AM
I used a 6133 for 6 months.
It would run down the battery in 3 days. Sorry.
Maybe you surf the web, listen to music, or IM too much?
Dale @ Dec 5th 2007 12:18PM
I wish T-Mobile would chase the higher-end phone market. Other than the Blackberry Pearl, their range is sorely lacking... a shame, as their service is great.
kaya @ Dec 5th 2007 12:53PM
pearl is the highest end phone tmobile they have? *looks at blackberry 8320* then what's this?
Dale @ Dec 5th 2007 1:18PM
I hadn't seen that before. Still, it's no Nokia N95 8GB.
Eric Gillingham @ Dec 5th 2007 12:29PM
3G? Does this mean T-Mobile has begun rolling out their 3G service already, or just a precursor to it?
john @ Dec 5th 2007 12:35PM
They are making some big announcement tomorrow..
Paul @ Jan 4th 2008 2:27PM
That would be a big yes, got inside sources in T-mobile so this is for sure gonna happen.
Ike Skelton @ Dec 5th 2007 12:35PM
That phone is impressively unimpressive!
john @ Dec 5th 2007 12:37PM
Wonder if it tethers. And if it can get an internet only plan. Might be useful as "just a 3G to bluetooth" modem for my PDA.
Mark @ Dec 5th 2007 1:00PM
Good luck with the smallest (as of now, non-existent) 3G service in the USA.
john @ Dec 5th 2007 1:08PM
Presumably this is a precursor to tomorrow. I expect that their 3G network will be launched within the next month ... so, I don't think this would be an unreasonable move. If it has a data-only plan, that is.
Ipaq3115 @ Dec 5th 2007 12:53PM
Offiicial...
Come on guys use a spell checker....
Bryan Thornsberry @ Dec 5th 2007 1:15PM
Official? I got official with this phone last week when I stocked my store with them. lol. I wondered why it hadn't been on the web before we got them... definately a first.
Nicky-Larson @ Dec 5th 2007 2:17PM
One WORD....UGLY. I mean common, for a high end country like the US, why do they always get the crappy phones. And the annoying thing is they try to make it look "kool"..ugh. The rest of the world, rocks the phone, then the US settles on the crumbs. Even Africa don't use phones designed like that anymore. All in the name of 3G, I have to settle for an ugly phone. What happened to all the high end phone? Maybe coz US is just slow at embracing the full price of phones...mmmh...must be. Look at the Verizon juke, LMAO. That phone has been around asia for more than a year before it landed here, and yet they wanna make it look all "...watch me move like my juke"...should be ..."Watch me move like a JOKE"...common America, u can do it.....
Constable Odo @ Dec 5th 2007 2:27PM
The Nokia 6263. The handset that is extraordinarily ordinary for those that will settle for less, much less.
JC @ Dec 5th 2007 2:28PM
Hmm... anyone know if they'll offer some sort of upgrade for the Wing? My only gripe with that phone is that it lacks 3G.
Wiipo @ Dec 5th 2007 2:45PM
Why cant Nokia get those USA 3G phones out that phone above is just a joke. I mean why couldnt they at least try to give one high end model with US 3G at same time as Europeans or Asians. They got money to try it at least....
Jamar @ Dec 5th 2007 7:22PM
I want T-Mobile to get Sharp on board again for 3G. They make kick-ass 3G phones.
SBrixie @ Dec 7th 2007 3:38PM
On sale? Where? It ain't available from their web site or in any retail location. Quit making things up!!!
nate @ Dec 12th 2007 2:15PM
Just bought one tonight--$79. Actually bought it for its music player/stereo bluetooth capabilities, which blow the Motos away. Sounds nearly as good as my iPod, sans wires, whereas the krzr sounded terrible. T-mobile 3G coming any day.
