Samsung's F250 slider gets introduced
If you've been dreaming of a sleek, stylish new slider from Samsung, look no further than the company's Russian site. Sure enough, the aforementioned location is where the F250 is being debuted (its stop in the FCC's database notwithstanding), and we're seeing that the 94- x 46- x 17.5-millimeter device is designed with music lovers in mind. Beyond the front-mounted track controls, this thing also boasts an FM tuner, a 1.3-megapixel camera, microSD expansion slot, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and a 2-inch 160 x 128 resolution LCD. As for connectivity, you'll find support for GSM 900 / 1,800 / 1,900 and EDGE, and while we're not sure how long it'll take for the mobile to make its way out to various corners of the world, it's set to run between RUB 6,500 ($266) and RUB 7,000 ($287) when it does.

For $266 it comes unlocked, I assume?
the front looks almost like that small flash-zune^^
... or an iPhone.
^^ Wow you're right!! It has a screen, it must be an iPhone ripoff!
@ js:
who cares about the iphone? i don't. crappy tech with a ridicolous pricetag (at least here in germany)
i agree that people comparing everything to iPhones is getting rediculous..but on the otherside its getting rediculous how people wont even admit that there is a faint subtle similarity between the two phones' aesthetics.
1.The nice rounded corners with a shiny metal beveled side.
2.The slick black letterbox effect above and below the screen (and not doing the pinstripe texture that Samsung did with the F700. And the Prada seemed to have its Boundries around the screen, not integrated into a single surface as this one does.)
3.Having the screen use all of the horizontal real estate and not having any padding as they did on both the F700 and the Prada.
Does this mean its not a nice phone? No, I think it looks great. But stop drinking the Anti-Apple cool-aid. Look at this and then look at the iPhone and then look at this. Id like to see what the GUI of this lil guy.. it looks promising.
$287, are you crazy? :D No 3G or HSPDA, 1,3 megapixel, bad resolution. But the design is awesome!
I don't understand why people want or expect a cell phone to be a good phone, mp3 player, AND camera. If I want to listen to music, I have an MP3 player. Just as I don't expect to use my Eee PC to play Crysis, I don't expect to use my cell phone to play music and take pictures well.
I carry around a brick for making phone calls, a rolodex for storing phone numbers, a calendar for appointments, a BlackBerry for email, an mp3 player for music, and an SLR with several different lenses for pictures. Why would I want a single device that does all that AND fits in my pocket?
I just hope this doesn't completely break after only a year of normal use like my last Samsung slider.
Camera....I agree with you. There's just no possible way to get good optics (and sensor) into that tiny a body.
But combining a music player into a phone makes perfect sense...there's no reason why it can't be as good a music player as a dedicated device.
Couldn't agree more with Kevin. I use my Motorola A1200 + Motorola S9 for music, and it's amazing.
But anyway, why should such a basic phone cost so much?
I don't get why there are so many of these comments either... the "why would I want an MP3 player or a camera in my phone?" comments. I mean... WHY would having the most useful features in a device you have with yourself most of the time be a bad thing? Why would I want to miss taking a good shot because I didn't bring my camera with me? Why would I want to sit on the skytrain back home without any music because I forgot my MP3 player?
I you wouldn't use any of the feature (which is weird), then go ahead and buy an outdated phone that only calls and send sms. Most people would want to have these features with them all the time. Of course, it's better to have a dedicated device, but having a decent camera and/or MP3 player in your phone isn't stupid at all.
Besides, I doubt that this phone is even that dedicated to the two features... though I admit it looks so damn nice.
I'd say something between "Good looks!" and "Meh...".
For some reason posts about the iPhone on a non-iPhone thread are usually low-ranked.
Just an observation, i'm not pro-Apple, i'm no fanboy, i had an iPhone but someone stole it, so is it ok not to low-rank me?
It's probably because comparing every other black phone to the iPhone is simply absurd.
And people like to low-rank absurd comments.
160 x 128 resolution LCD, wtf?
This might sound crazy, but I actually DID have that phone in my dream last night. Some weird guy phoned somebody with it, I can't really remember much other than it was a weird guy, and he was using that exact phone.
I don't even remember seeing that phone before anyways.
I was the guy from your 'dream'. There's nothing weird about me. And the reason you're having trouble remembering is because I slipped you a rufee while you were looking at my phone.
Btw, That wasn't a dream :).
Brought to you by Lightspeed briefs!
N81 knockoff! by Chinese .. i mean,Korean .
it actually pretty decent looking. im in the market for a basic cell phone (minus the bells and whistles), that looks good (which is pretty hard to come by these days)
only beef i have with it is the price. take $100 off that price and we'll talk, Samsung.
Checkout the Samsung U600
That's what I picked up (I was looking for the same thing as you, a basic and stylish phone):

1.3 megapixel camera? 128x160 display? Looks like an iPhone when closed? No, thanks.
