The Pac-Man Christmas tree
Finally, Blinky, Pinky, Inky, Clyde, and even old Pacster get some religious iconography happening for themselves. A creative group of X-mas-and-Pac-Man-loving cats and kittens in Madrid have created a truly festive monument to the holiday... and the video game. Check the video after the break for the whole, utility-burning display in action -- and commenters, feel free to translate.

That may be the single most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
10 points to anyone who can build a fully playable version of it...
Maff @ Dec 6th 2007 5:21PM
her or the tree?
LondonConsultant @ Dec 6th 2007 6:59AM
Surely that 25 year old Christmas tree would have shed its dots by now...
slug @ Dec 6th 2007 7:00AM
Thats the coolest thing i have ever seen!!
Javi @ Dec 6th 2007 7:06AM
"Hello. We'd been told that under the Europa Tower there was a stupendous digital christmas tree... and it is filled with the pac-man (the coconut eater)"
Fredd @ Dec 6th 2007 11:18AM
"Hello we we're told that there was a Digital Christmas tree under the Europa tower, and it's full of ghost eaters"
Coco also means ghost in spanish
Yubastard @ Dec 6th 2007 11:34AM
jaja entiendo! "me come el coco!" jaja coco as in monster, not coco as in coconut
blade417 @ Dec 6th 2007 8:35AM
I would definetly own this level.
blade417 @ Dec 6th 2007 8:38AM
on second thought... those dots at the top of the tree look really hard to get...
ele©tro @ Dec 6th 2007 8:39AM
Looks more like the Daft Punk pyramid. Hella cool though.
nonamo @ Dec 6th 2007 4:39PM
Thats exactlty what i thought when i saw it! God.... Daft Punk were amazing live.
Yubastard @ Dec 6th 2007 8:58AM
it is supremely awesome but it would rock even more if it would actually move, you know, pacman eating the coconuts and the ghosts, but it's ok... I guess... wouldn't mind having this in the front yard hehe
LiQuiD_FuSioN @ Dec 6th 2007 10:38AM
I agree wholeheartedly. I was expecting to see a demo of the actual game in action, but I guess this is okay too.
Shane @ Dec 6th 2007 9:18AM
This could probably be done with some large outdoor LED sign displays. Would sure be a cool (but expensive) project to make a full motion version of this!
It looks as if they simply used LEDs or incandescent bulbs arranged in patterns with slight shifts for the ghosts and pac-man.
Chird @ Dec 6th 2007 4:26PM
My first thought: LiteBrite
Kyrra @ Dec 6th 2007 10:11AM
That's pretty cool.
dataminer49er @ Dec 6th 2007 10:46AM
That's really cool, but the Atari version is awful.
Bucket @ Dec 6th 2007 11:00AM
So, you sing Christmas carols around the Christmas tree... what are you supposed to sing around the Pac-Man tree?
"Woowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoo"
"Brump brump brump brump brump"

Fox Dude @ Dec 6th 2007 11:51AM
Pure Win.
michaelportent @ Dec 6th 2007 12:14PM
If only there were joysticks on all the sides. =)
Mindfield @ Dec 6th 2007 12:40PM
Duuuuuude. I must have it. I don't care that I live in an apartment with 10 foot ceilings. I'll lean it out the balcony. It is full of such a critical mass of win that no one would ever complain, just stare in awe and wonder. Especially once I start blaring Buckner & Garcia out the window on repeat.
SoreThumb @ Dec 6th 2007 12:44PM
Thank god this isn't in Boston, or else Massachusetts'd declare a state of emergency.
hemmy @ Dec 6th 2007 12:50PM
So Awesome.
Kerry @ Dec 6th 2007 1:13PM
Have yourself a nerdy little Christmas... all we need now is Space Invaders mistletoe.
Larz @ Dec 6th 2007 1:40PM
Dear gods that's awesome
Gravemind @ Dec 6th 2007 2:25PM
Pac-Man is cool.
Boynamedsue @ Dec 6th 2007 2:31PM
my girlfriend keeps bugging me about getting a pac-tree this year, but i just can't bring myself to do it. It seems so wasteful. all those pac-tree's cut down for a simple holiday. and do you know how long it takes one of those things to grow?
nathan @ Dec 6th 2007 3:07PM
now that is cool!
kitty @ Dec 11th 2007 6:18AM
