Dell, Motion Computing sued for patent infringement over touch panels
You don't have to look far outside of the Eastern District of Texas to find yourself a fresh patent infringement case, and sure enough, that's precisely where this one was filed. Getting dinged up today is none other than the Round Rock powerhouse and Motion Computing, both of which are being sued for so-called willful infringement on Typhoon Touch Technologies / Nova Mobility Systems touch panel patents. Apparently, the two defendants are being accused of profiting off of two particular patents without paying the plaintiffs their respective royalties, and the lawsuit is seeking to "enjoin Dell and Motion Computing from the continued violation of [the] patents" while also extracting a presumably hefty sum of cash. No specific products are blamed, but we're told that the patents cover technology used in tablet PCs, slate PCs, handheld PCs, UMPCs, PDAs and a host of other gear.

Suing culture is getting more prominent across the globe as greed kicks in, especially in the states! You get mothers suing their kids and vice versa. What is the world coming to!

I find this quite interesting. Gateway's tablet PCs have been around a lot longer than Dell's and at least the early ones were made by Motion Computing. Apparently Gateway is not worth suing?

Hold your horses. Suing is hard work. You sue a little. You take a lunch break. You sue a little. You take your kids to the park. You sue a little more.
Be patient. Everyone will get their suing.

Take a look at TYPT's website (http://www.typhoontouchtech.com) and tell me if this looks like a real company and not one that was invented to sue. Nova actually is a real company with real products.

what the hell is with that website? there is nothing to it. I especially love how all the picutes have the caption "a rendering of the device that incorporates the companies patents....". i have never seen anything that before on any company website.

Time to pay off the Innovation Revenue Service!
I despise patents for stuff like this, among other reasons. They're using a good idea.... so, let them do it.
...It'd be funny if Dell just up and bought out the little company that's suing them. Just, you know, bought all their stock and ate them. Really, yeah, that'd be hilarious.
