Flux Capacitor replicas for sale
Seems like every year since 1985 a modified DeLorean with Flux Capacitor shows up for sale. This time, it's just the 1.21 jigawatt-powered heart of the Back to the Future time machine. The perfect accessory for your 2008 DeLorean. Get your $220 pre-order in now (or $275 after January 1st) for an April 30th, 2008 fluxing -- the apparent past tense of fleecing.

Yes, but DOES IT MAKE YOUR CAR GO 88 MILES PER HOUR!?
Maximiliam @ Dec 7th 2007 6:27AM
No, there is a electronic cap at 80
Paul @ Dec 7th 2007 7:48AM
The flux capacitor never made any car go 88 miles per hour.
Garst @ Dec 7th 2007 1:48PM
I don't it, but your accelorator probably can. Wait! Let me use simple words, gas pedal.
Sam @ Dec 7th 2007 7:00AM
That'll be "Gigawatt", Hilarious pronounciations aside.
Dan S. @ Dec 7th 2007 9:07AM
Zemeckis admits that he had no idea how to pronounce "gigawatt" when they began filming the first movie. By the time the second and third movies were greenlit, he knew the proper pronunciation, but it would have confused continuity elements to correct the actors' pronunciation.
mike @ Dec 7th 2007 12:11PM
The pronunciation used in the movie is proper. It is somewhat antiquated and rarely used (except for an occasional radio astronomer), but is completely legitimate nonetheless.
Karim @ Dec 7th 2007 7:09AM
Hmmm. One of these just showed up in my mail. I guess that means that sometime in the future I ordered two of them, then used one to send the other one back in time.
MMalecky @ Dec 7th 2007 7:13AM
Careful there, don't accidentally divide by zero.
Michael @ Dec 7th 2007 2:16PM
Or, your future self bought one, came back himself, sent it to you and is now living comfortably somewhere in Detroit investing in tech stocks.
John @ Dec 7th 2007 7:26AM
Wow, a cheap enclosure, a pipe, a label, and 3 strings of LEDs. Do I smell a DIY tutorial popping up in the next few weeks?
I wouldn't be able to justify spending $275 on this. :/
Ben @ Dec 7th 2007 7:44AM
In other news prices for the replica drop drastically after Christmas, as there is a surplus of tiny little lights used to make the product.
JSC @ Dec 7th 2007 7:55AM
They are from the Back to the Future Ride at Universal Studios in Hollywood. they had dozens. I used to work there. The store is in the City walk just out side of the park.
Flashpoint @ Dec 7th 2007 8:18AM
If Mercedes Benz developed a time machine out of my S550, the Flux Capacitor would be surrounded by supple leather and alcantara.
Playdrv4me @ Dec 7th 2007 9:32AM
I barely trust an S Class to get me down the block, let alone 2042.
Fraggle.Rock @ Dec 7th 2007 9:50AM
Trash talking the beloved (usually) S-class, for shame!
That car has always about 10 years ahead in terms of features and technology... where else can you get a massaging seat, infra-red headlights, etc? :-)
Oracle @ Dec 7th 2007 12:06PM
You mean if the electronics don't fail?
oshean @ Dec 7th 2007 10:06AM
No thanks. I've already bought a time machine modulus + crystal from some guy named Rico.
alex @ Dec 7th 2007 10:50AM
Really? I got my time machine from some bald headed guy in a Nehru jacket carrying the ugliest baby i've ever seen.
Ellianth @ Dec 7th 2007 10:40AM
that would make an interesting pc case. Anyone else think so?
Bombaclaat @ Dec 7th 2007 10:49AM
will this work in a 1995 c280 merc?
Karim @ Dec 7th 2007 11:08AM
It should work just fine, because there are only two connections required: +1.21 GW, and ground.
You might want to use something other than 30 AWG stranded, though.
Bombaclaat @ Dec 7th 2007 8:55PM
hope it has ipod connection. lol.
alex @ Dec 7th 2007 10:52AM
Does it come with Mr. Fusion?
Magallanes @ Dec 7th 2007 12:22PM
Sorry but this models is still nuclear power source anyways, you always can buy plutonium at the nearest terrorist store.
Damon Toadie @ Dec 7th 2007 11:02AM
I 'spose it works better than the "Napoleon" time-machine...LESS pain!!!
coward @ Dec 7th 2007 11:22AM
does it run linux?
T-Bone @ Dec 7th 2007 11:24AM
Is that really just a picture of the insides and not even a window?
NovaLand @ Dec 7th 2007 7:23PM
The picture all-in-all is probably just a rendered image and they slapped on a texture instead of making the content. They don't want to show a real picture of it, because someone might copy it.
T-Bone @ Dec 8th 2007 1:29AM
I don't see how a render is any different from a picture. There are already laws against copying things.
nathan.wong @ Dec 7th 2007 11:58AM
Oh why did it have to cost SO MUCH?
kojo87 @ Dec 7th 2007 5:40PM
i just got a sweet idea for a PC case mod. can't believe i didnt think of it before. i bet its already been done though...
Evereddie @ Dec 7th 2007 9:08PM
Is this Mac compatible?
Phill @ Dec 7th 2007 11:47PM
If it works, it would be worth that much.
Chad @ Dec 8th 2007 10:39AM
If it worked, you wouldn't ever know about it.
Time Lord @ Dec 7th 2007 11:57PM
Heh, Time Lord technology has all that beat.
Me,...I just travel around in my Police Box,..from the 1950's!
