How would you change Nokia's N95?

For those of you fortunate enough to own this here mobile, why not release a little steam by venting to us those minor, yet inexplicably annoying quirks that are preventing the N95 from being the phone it could otherwise be? Not quite satisfied with the design? Slightly perturbed by the current storage capacity limits? Do you truly feel as if this thing should handle laundry and Quake in its spare time? C'mon, we're confident this heralded handset has a few niggles holding it down, and while a certain segment of you are already enjoying the niceties presented by the latest firmware release, we know this thing is a few features shy of unequivocal domination. Let's hear it! Oh, and don't spend too much time bragging about ownership -- let's get to the good stuff, k?

I have had the N95 since it came out, It is a wonderful phone, what with the great sound quality, video quality and the photo quality is second to none. I know what people are going to say...The Sony Ericsson K850i with its 5 Megapixel camera will surely be better but I have tested both phones cameras side by side and the Nokia wins hands down!. With Wireless connection,3G, VOIP availability (with Fring and Skype, there really is nothing to match this phone.......
1. The screen hisses. Put your ear to it to make a call and it's like listening to a house fire. All phones do it to some extent but with the N95 it's ridiculous.
2. It sends out hiss when playing music! All noise coming from the phone including beeps is accompanied by a hiss - something which boggles my mind seeing how they bothered to finally add a 3.5mm jack for this phone. I would have loved to have used this phone as an MP3 player, but with sound quality like that it can kiss my grits.
3. The GPS is rubbish. Full stop.
4. On the bright side, everything else is OK. I have no problem navigating, it connects to the net fast and efficiently, the firmware update sorts out the problems with the camera. It's such a shame that they skimped on the final bits of what could have been a truly great phone. I have the same issues with the iphone - they went 90% of the way to making an amazing piece of kit, then crippled it by not adding 3G. It might look pretty, but it's a rubbish phone. What a shame.
I have faith one day there will be a phone released that will work 100%. It will be beautiful, ergonomic, fully functional...*sigh*
Less phone, more Tuberculosis filtering.
Wait, darn, that's been done.
(Awe foo, nobody's gonna get my medical humor.)
The masks. I get it.
-Larger screen
-Longer battery life! (battery life is abysmal, moderate use kills it in a day!)
-Onboard ram, there's just not enough - speed up the programs
-Rework interface...way too confusing. Had it for 6 months now and I'm still not comfortable with it.
-Get rid of some buttons on the front...end up hitting them and going back to the main screen, very annoying
-faster camera focus.
-Make gps turn-by-turn free!
These are my gripes about the phone, but don't get me wrong, I love this phone. It has done wonders for me...the gps has gotten me out of countless situations. Constantly wowing my friends with its very robust internet features and other toys on it. It has its shortcomings but I love it.
I couldn't say it better myself, and i tried, almost everything would be a great improvment on already a great device, i have the all-new 8gig version but still everything u mentioned sorta was a thought outa my own mind at one time or another, kudos to ur points.

Start with:
1. Charge on USB
2. QWERTY and/or touchscreen (decent input method)
3. better GPS so that I don't have to stick my hand out of my car all the time to get a fix.
When playing an MP3 the volume button should not lock when the phone is closed. it's a pain to have to manually unlock the phone just to turn the volume up or down.
Not a perfect solution, but the remote clip volume controls are independent of the keypad lock.
CDMA plz.
optical zoom
um qwerty? this kills me from getting this phone.
Improve the shutter lag
I owned N95-1 and own a TyTN II:
1. This phone needs a better keyboard. At least a half-Qwerty type
2. The slide rattles a little too much and it takes away that solidly-built feel
3. Battery life still troubling
4. Xenon flashlight please
5. Directional keys not for people with bigger fingers
6. CPU speed not on par with other players
I sold my N95-1 and bought TyTN II before the N95-3 is available for US. N95 is a great phone
just optical zoom and an xeon flash is all the nokia n95 needs, still keep it the same though.
@Jack
There is an optic zoom.
When using the camera/video, use the D pad to scroll up or down to zoom in or out (that'd be left or right in 'landscape').
I don't kno what that one guy ment by launching the GPS be4 the year ends, being that it is launched, but ne ways it be nice if the handset could be louder and mabe include hd radio as i can't even use the visual radio function in the phone. ne ways im sure i could come up with more reasons such as xenon flash, smooth transistion with IU rotation like the iphone (but im guessin thats probably one of the 211 plus patents from the iphone). As thier main big phone Im over-all satified.
holla Nokia!
well apparently the N95
has an expansion slot memory limit.
The greatest amount it can hold is 2gb,
although a quicker software (i was told)
can possibly allow for this limit to go away.
Sorry guys, but this phone is not an iPhone killer. Nothing could be an iPhone killer. Even if it is a better, more productive phone, Apple has such a huge following that nothing can beat it out.
The 'Maps' choice is so convenient that I keep choosing it by accident. I'd like to see maps accessed in a different way.
1) While phone is in (PHONE LOCK) not keylock, even the buttons on the headset wont work, so~ if they do work and also the button on top of the N95 would work, it will be really good. I dont want to always put in my password to unlock then shut the music or start it again..
2) Being able to use the USB (Mass storage) without having to change the Messages storing settings back to phone memory.
3) i forgot what i had in mind -.-
US Version (no probs with memory micro sd expands hugely, battery good, GPS improved after firmware update)
1. give it a kickstand so it will stand on a flat surface to watch video
2. bigger keypad for fat fingered friends
3. arrange side buttons or grips so phone can be held without accidentaly pressing side buttons, launching camera, etc.
4. touch screen
5. option for closing the slider to end call when not using bluetooth headset
6. right soft key at home launches camera is redundant to camera button launching camera.
7. no lens cover for yankees :-(
8. the hideously obnoxious key lock is the bollocks indeed. i love the phone but the key lock makes me want to throw it sometimes.
9. camera is a pain in the ass to use- press press press ??? wtf? oh keylock unlock press? press? CLICK FLASH!! too late. moment lost.. :-(
10. camera button not ergonomically conducive to taking the "hi mom" self pic at arms-length.
11. periodic random unexplainable auto-reboots (less frequent after fw update tho)
12. left menu button- menu. right button - merry-go-round menu. Why two?
13. needs FM TRANSMITTER (not receiver) to send audio over FM radio (play GPS Nav turn by turn directions and music in non-BT enabled rental cars when travelling).
14. Those are the complaints but I seriously love this phone for the high speed data and GPS combo. Add in Slingbox Player, Winamp Remote, Internet Radio, 3dtracking, google maps and this phone is way fun.
