Epcot's Spaceship Earth reopens with a cameo from Woz
Disney just finished refurbishing the iconic Spaceship Earth attraction at Disney World, and it looks like a certain board member gave a little shout-out to a friend: there's (animatronic) Woz in the garage, diligently hacking away on what appears to be the mutant offspring of an Apple I and the Lisa. Anyone else see this yet? We're dying to know if there's a check made out for $350 with "Breakout" listed in the memo line.

The image is not loading, unfortunately

Wow, this is news? Oh wait, thats right its Apple-related.
bjrcboy @ Dec 10th 2007 12:25PM
Your a moron.
GrammarGeek @ Dec 10th 2007 12:46PM
And unfortunately your (possessive pronoun) response indicates that you're (contraction for "you are") incapable of using proper grammar.
Unless of course you're referring to the previous poster's personal moron, but then you wouldn't need the article "a" (e.g., your moron).
But even then, your response would have just been a fragment serving no practical purpose whatsoever...

@bjrcboy: Grammar Correction: You're a moron.

Mmm no coffee this morning, my mistake. Skemo is still a moron though.
bcollinstex @ Dec 10th 2007 12:34PM
So, what about the rest of the ride?

Good timing, my brother and I are taking the day off tomorrow to go to Epcot. I'll definitely be checking this out! Now if only they'd do something with the old Wonders of Life building...
kjb434 @ Dec 10th 2007 1:59PM
That and the land pavillion are in line for a complete overhaul. Disney World just doesn't like to take more than 1 major attraction offline at a time
Kenban @ Dec 10th 2007 5:32PM
The land has already had a lot of work done. Wonders of Life has been closed and it appears will not reopen anytime soon if ever. The building is currently used as rental space for parties and events.
ChillyWilly @ Dec 10th 2007 12:54PM
I was just at Epcot this last week and the ride was still down. It's planned to be down until Feb 2008, unless some people are getting the special treatment.
tkn0spdr @ Dec 10th 2007 1:06PM
There's stuff in the Wonders of Life building...
Jeremy M @ Dec 10th 2007 1:34PM
Everything that used to be in there was taken out for the 2007 Food & Wine Festival. I believe the big attractions (Body Wars & Cranium Command) still exist, but the rest of the smaller things have been taken out. I've heard they're going to continue to use it only as a convention space.
tkn0spdr @ Dec 10th 2007 1:38PM
Well that would suck, my kids liked playing in the perspective house. Last time I was there was during the festival so I don't know what it looks like now.

i thought it was supposed to be jobs not woz...... not that i really car seeing as I've never been/never plan on going to Disney (the only thing that can disrupt my well laid-out plans is my girlfriend as she is a Disney fanatic; damnit).
StrangeBum @ Dec 10th 2007 1:31PM
There is Steve Jobs, but the few more faithful (nerdy) also remember Steve Wozniak. The other Steve that started up the business with Mr. Turtleneck.
Learn thy geek history. (*This statement is only that, I myself may be wrong in my little history lesson)
Jeremiah Zachary Hoffman @ Dec 10th 2007 1:38PM
i didn't mean that woz didn't do the work/doesn't deserve the credit just that previous reports of the exhibit said it was going to be jobs not woz (woz is the man, jobs gets the credit) (i have watched enough geek flicks/documentaries to know i.e. triumph of the nerds on PBS and pirates of silicon valley)
Hastin @ Dec 10th 2007 1:16PM
FYI: It is in soft openings:
http://www.micechat.com/forums/showthread.php/spaceship_earth_soft_opening_announced-84874.html
Also good to note that they never mention that it's Woz. Instead, they just say 'People started working to bring computers from the office, into your home.'.
tiuk @ Dec 10th 2007 1:34PM
Ouch.
Luigi193 @ Dec 10th 2007 1:59PM
Ya gotta love the Woz
G @ Dec 10th 2007 2:36PM
How did they ever get over the $350 split? anyone know? and how tight are they now?
SubGenius @ Dec 10th 2007 2:38PM
Even though Jobs took advantage of Woz in some respects in their early relationship, it certainly appears as though he is trying to right his wrongs. This is one of the best tributes that a person can receive. If Steve wasn't on the board of directors I doubt it would have turned out like this.

Finally a Woz news that has nothing to do with either a seqway or Katie Griffin...
IndiaTech @ Dec 10th 2007 4:03PM
Sorry my bad... Kathy Griffin :)
Seth J. @ Dec 10th 2007 6:56PM
Woz rulz! He deserves the Epcot Spaceship Earth credit. Luigi193 said it best"Ya gotta love the Woz". The spoof about 'Goldmember' being featured in Epcot holding a Gold Zune (Zhoon) is hysterical. http://www.iphonesavior.com/2007/12/epcot-spaceship.html

The new ride makeover is getting good reviews for the first half and LAME reviews for the second half. Apparently, all the attention to detail didn't leave much imagination when your car spins around and you start mnaking the descent down the "big golfball". See http://www.intercot.com
BrianW @ Dec 11th 2007 1:02AM
They actually split $750.00, so the check would be for $375.00. :)
Rick @ Dec 11th 2007 4:33AM
What would be really interesting to know, is if they still have the jewish animatronic guy working next to the muslim guy.
Michael Walters @ Dec 12th 2007 1:55PM
I love the old Grentec GT Spoiler hanging off the cinder blocks. They were the skateboard for us velour shirt and bell bottom corduroy wearing Northern California kids.
God I feel old....
