Nokia's Eco Sensor concept gets right with the greens
In the slow crawl of news leading up to our annual CES blowout, we bring you this, the Nokia Eco Sensor concept device. The device consists of two parts: a wearable mobile phone (duh, it's Nokia) with giant display and a remote sensing unit which keeps tabs on your health and external environment. Nokia research envisions that the sensor unit would be worn on a wrist or neck strap made of solar cells. It would then communicate back to your phone via near field communications (NFC) or RFID. What you monitor (i.e., the sensors you get) will be customizable based on user preference. You know, like the burn from your jetpack and rate of your daily food replication. Thanks for the look into the future Nokia, now get back to your S60 development please, time's a'wastin'.

Nokia, you just know how to pull at hearstrings.
And now you'll be doing it lietrally :]
Solar paneled necklace for health monitoring is great - measure UV exposure - probable dehydration warning factoring body temperature, perspiration, heart rate.
sensors won't need displays themselves, just power lights - the main display can be your personal dashboard :]

wow - I gotta get some sleep!
pardon the spelling mistakes :]

That is the most beautiful handset I've seen. I think they're off target with it's intended purpose since it's one of the first designs that is really elegant. Iphone and prada are ok but if they take this concept, throw in all that other stuff they're working on, and they should have something remarkable.

Sensor-heavy, connected datamining thingy...TRICORDER, anyone?

I for one welcome our Nokia overlords.

i for one is sick of that line!
Carbonize @ Dec 10th 2007 8:01AM
Yes but at least it has some relevance in this case. Not like I asked if it would blend or if it could play Doom.

first make your music phones sound quality at least as good as iPod
Carbonize @ Dec 10th 2007 8:18AM
The day Apple make their iPods sound as good as anything made by either Creative or iRiver then I will start requesting better quality from a phone.
tamoghno @ Dec 10th 2007 8:25AM
creative are great , but iPod has become generic.

Dont know if it's just me, but it looks great....if they could release that TS thingie already!
Kobaljov @ Dec 10th 2007 11:29AM
Why they don't use the (also Nokia developed) WiBree technology for the data transfer? It's aimed for ultra-low power sensors..
Boynamedsue @ Dec 10th 2007 12:01PM
this makes the iphone look like the fat kid.

Well, the Nokia Aero is not even out yet... I really enjoy Nokia concepts - guess they are thinking/working 10 years ahead, but would be nicer if Nokia would take some risks and come out with a product before others.
I wouldn't mind early adopter problems. Just let me adopt something early, finally! :-)

Totally agree many of their concepts are prety great...if they could release this or Aeon(a bit updated vers maybe)it would be the dream already.
amby @ Dec 10th 2007 2:45PM
