Greener Gadgets conference in New York, February 2008
Our gadgets may be getting slowly greener, but consumer technology is still one of the world's dirtier, more pollutant industries, and it's about time we all rounded up some electronics heavyweights and had a chit chat. Thankfully, Jill Fehrenbacher of Inhabitat (disclaimer: as many of you know, Jill is wife to Engadget co-founder and editor-at-large Peter Rojas) and Marc Alt of Marc Alt and Partners have stepped up to the plate, and are launching the Greener Gadgets conference. We'll be there participating in the discussion, as well as execs and environmental technologists from OLPC, HP, Nokia, and Sony. It all goes down on February 1st in New York, hopefully we'll see you there!

noble peace prize was already given to al gore for global awareness.
what is this the after party?
Free iPhones for everyone!
... no... evidently, they're giving away the moto v60g/i/s/x
I couldn't handle reading Inhabitat anymore, their postings are so alarmist.
Dear Jill, if you get a moment watch "The Great Global Warming Swindle"
"The film has since been criticised by many scientists and scientific organisations (including two of the film's contributors [3] [4]) for misuse of data, for using misleading arguments, and for misrepresenting the position of the IPCC."
And you think Al Gores film was any better?
This film isn't 100% false, they make some VERY valid points that the 'religious' green movement could maybe shut up and listen to.
al gore's film also isn't 100% false, he makes some VERY valid points that the 'religious' SUV's movement could maybe shut up and listen to, too.
i don't think either film was 'better'. watch both, do your own research, make up your own mind, and back up your arguments with facts.
and of course the comment threads on engadget is the place to do that...
for the record, i don't even own a car/drive.
no, i only said what i said because your "This film isn't 100% false" implies that al gore's is, which is extremely misleading.
for the record, i don't even hug trees.
Shrekboy,
If you had read the comment prior to mine then I think you would have actually understood my phrase.
It had NOTHING to do with that undeserving jerks movie.
You clearly need a new hobby, quit trolling Engadget.
"athousandleaves",
if you read your own post, YOU're the one who brought up the "underserving jerk" who-shall-not-be-named first, contrary to your claim that what you've said has "NOTHING to do with" his movie.
"'religious' green movement"? "jerk"? "trolling"? seems like you can't do any better than name calling and ad hominem attacks. i merely stated how your 2nd comment can be misleading, that's all, and that the same thing could've easily been said regarding big al's documentary. no need to resort to childish name calling tactics, m'kay?
This conference sounds like a great idea. Cheers to Jill and Marc!
LOL remember when the motorola v60 was like the "it" cell phone...oh technology how far you've come
If you're going to save the environment, not that it needs saving, then throw away your cell phone, your laptop, your car, cancel your electricity service, etc. Buy a farm and good horse, you we be more than "Carbon neutral"...
That said, I'm all for Global Warming...
My point was we don't need to make our cell phones greener because there's nothin' wrong with Global Warming, even if the phones are contributing to it...
Tell that to the ski industry. :)
Well I guess that they'll just have to turn into water parks... :-)
It's 16F outside and there's 8 inches of snow; I could use some global warming.
I'm confused as to how the v60 got to be the spokes'model' for this event. Anyway, if you guys need more of them I've got two or three laying around somewhere...
The effectiveness of a conference on greener gadgets is questionable but awareness on greener buying choices is essential. Keep the posts coming.
