BenQ is back with another digital snapper ready for action during the holidays. At least we think so -- no price or availability were announced. Nevertheless, the DC-X835 is an 8 megapixel version of their
DC-X735 slimster. As such, you're looking at a 3x smc Pentax optical zoom, 2.5-inch LCD, and a "unique" Super Shake Free mode. So unique they can't tell us whether it's optical, mechanical, digital, or what. VGA video in MPEG-4 at 30fps in a 12.5~14.7-mm thin take anywhere camera with SDHC storage closes things out.

my mom is a professional photog and she says Fuji makes the best cameras.
I WAS JUST ABOUT TO BUY A BENQ. THANK YOU VERR MUCH FOR SWAYING ME WITH YOUR PURSUASIVE AND ON TOPIC COMMENT. SCREW RON PAUL. THIS KID FOR PRESIDENT 08. FLY DOUCHE FLY!
My mom says I'm the smartestest handsomest young man in the whole universe! And I say you are wrong, and probably very ugly.
She's a photog? What's that, an alien race?
You guys are all just mad that I got the first post and didn't say "First!!!!" And I am running for President. My real name is Mike Huckabee.
Yeah, about your mom...
"[...] a "unique" Super Shake Free mode. So unique they can't tell us whether it's optical, mechanical, digital, or what."
Let's not be coy, it's the fucking shitty high ISO mode that these scam artists like to call "shake free" or "anti-shake" or some other thing that sounds like true image stabilization. Even FUJI (hey, Alex, listening?) does it. And probably they'll cover this shit with more shit, like pixel binning or something like that so it doesn't look too much like shit. But what they achieve is just second-generation shit.
Actually, by the way, good-old post-capture downsamplin is better than pixel-binning to get rid of noise.
I never said I know jack shit about cameras. All I said is my mom, who has worked as a self-employed professional photogRAPHER for over 30 years, has had the opportunity to try out many different digital cameras, and her purely subjective opinion is that Fuji makes the best point and shoot digital cameras.
What I love is how ALL the manufacturers scream about how many Megapixels their latest and greatest have, when so many other factors go into taking a good picture.
back in october benq announced the x735 and i haven't heard much about that camera since then. thats probably because i'm in the states. so i wouldn't be surprised if i were to never hear about this camera ever again. god i hope sony or canon announces something this thin (12-13mm) when PMA 2008 rolls around.
