Nokia's N96 spotted in the wild?
That, friends, is an N96. Or, at least we're led to believe so. Judging by five mysterious images that surfaced over at Mobile-Review, it appears that Nokia's N96 (which looks like a jazzed-up version of the N81, actually) has leaked out, and while no specifications are available, it looks as if this thing is packing a 5-megapixel camera (with the obligatory Carl Zeiss lens), a dual LED flash and a sexy black motif. Check out one more look after the jump.

That looks sweet. Oh yeah and mandatory blurry image of upcoming mysterious phone satisfied.
sr @ Dec 20th 2007 10:16AM
Doesn't look right when the N81 has Xenon flash. Trust me the new flagship will have Xenon flash and every new innovation found in other Nokia N series phones. If anything I think the new flagship will have S60 touchscreen.
Pdexter @ Dec 20th 2007 10:20AM
Nope there you are wrong. It will most probally be 4xxx series.
Try that http://forum2.mobile-review.com/showthread.php?t=69892

People are just getting too carried away with TS. Standard is still buttons, Nokia has 46%(2006) of smartphone sales and they dont have any TS phones of course. So dont think they got hurry to start changing their portfolio to TS orientated.
L.Rawlins @ Dec 20th 2007 1:30PM
I own the new flagship Nokia. It's called the N82 and it's magnificent.
sr @ Dec 20th 2007 2:40PM
So you have some rumor from April 2007? Wow. Whatever this is it won't be the new flagship. The new flagship will at least have Xenon flash. Given how early that post was made, it was probably a preview of the N81.
Don't lecture me about TS. I have an N95 and I know TS isn't everything, but that's the direction Nokia is headed. They won't get rid of the buttons we all know and love. It will be a great adjunctive input method.
The Nokia Flagship is the N95 8GB for N-series and E90 for the E-series - not the N82. Although I like the N82 and if I could afford both an N95 and N82 I would get both. The lack of US 3G on the N82 is the reason I haven't switched.
Pdexter @ Dec 20th 2007 3:05PM
Sorry if i offended you =) Aye i agree it aint the new flagship phone. Most probaly not even real.
JimD @ Dec 20th 2007 10:18AM
Just Testing.

Slick
coolant8 @ Dec 20th 2007 10:21AM
look closely at the active stand by icon, there are 6 here, and there are 7 on the newer handset, like n95 8gb, i think this is just a fake, new flagship running old OS? I somehow don;t think so.
Where is the wifi indication?
AL7AIR @ Dec 20th 2007 10:30AM
There is a "open" label above the d-pad navigation labeling the center key, which makes it a S60 Feature Pack 2 device, so I guess the Active Standby Plug-Ins are a standard feature of this OS release and the WLAN-scanning is just disabled.
Pdexter @ Dec 20th 2007 10:24AM
N96 just dosent sound right. Maybe N8x? Hopefully this aint true and i think N81 dual slider aint bad at all, but new flagship phone should be long wait still.
More pics btw

looks more like a n82 to me.
tamoghno @ Dec 20th 2007 10:29AM

really , i still trying to find a difference worth mentioning between "this N96" & the N81.
please tell me,if you found anything !
Pdexter @ Dec 20th 2007 10:31AM
It's dual slider, bigger screen and 5mpx cam.

coolant8 @ Dec 20th 2007 10:35AM
Well if you can't spot any difference, you ought to go to specsavers though; look closely, The key positioning is a bit different if you google up a n81 image, so is the top of the phone; plus the styling and the dual led flash on this one.
coolant8 @ Dec 20th 2007 10:37AM
and the speaker positioning, etc
tamoghno @ Dec 20th 2007 10:44AM
no fighting , but personally i am still not convinced.it might be just a photoshoped N81.
nut anway , who cares! all we need is VGA screen & E61i like battery on N95 8gb.
grant my wish nokia , i'll be the first to buy
sr @ Dec 20th 2007 2:41PM
It looks like a preview of the N81 since it was posted way back in April.
Ryan @ Feb 6th 2008 6:13PM
Umm other than that it also doesn't have the two buttons at the top of the screen like the N81 has by the speaker.
Dave @ Dec 20th 2007 10:34AM
A N95 with either a Touchscreen or Built-In keyboard would rock my world.
slick_shoes @ Dec 20th 2007 10:42AM
A first for me - a Nokia that I might actually want to buy.
Jonathan Bergeron @ Dec 20th 2007 10:46AM
Nokia makes nice phones.
Pro7 @ Dec 20th 2007 10:46AM
Ugly is what describes it. Just a larger version of the N81. Why didn't they copy the N95 8GB design?
Nomi @ Dec 20th 2007 11:12AM
I like all that glossiness...and it looks thinner too.
Adam @ Dec 20th 2007 10:52AM
Looks really nice! Can't wait for a press release.
Ssco @ Dec 20th 2007 11:17AM
Doesn't look all that revolutionary to me
Jon @ Dec 20th 2007 11:37AM
If it is then good. I like the N81's design but found the specs a little bit meh when compared to the N95. Putting N95 specs into a body of a N81 is a win situation for me.
Mark @ Dec 20th 2007 11:40AM
I like the slim bezel.
xBeRx @ Dec 20th 2007 12:14PM
Me want =[
Tviit @ Dec 20th 2007 1:03PM
This phone dosent make sense. New flagship from Nokia...nope. New 8x series portfolio update...might be or just chinese copy phone. I'm all in for the dual slider if they get it a bit better this time or more like get that iritating slider quality hit and miss that they got with N95.
What new could this offer over N95 or N95 8GB. Mpx count dosent of course tell it all and this could have better camera like than N95, but then you got N82 with xenon and i cant think this could beat it with out that xenon.
It really dosent offer anything new compared to N95 and if so this would def be N8x series, but there isnt any reason why they would need this kind of phone to their portfolio.
It's photoshoped or some chinese toy with S60 and fp2 theme.
Damon @ Dec 21st 2007 9:53AM
it has 8gig internal AND the SD micro slot. i got to caress it. it will do for now but there are other models in the pipe i cant wait to play with.
js @ Dec 20th 2007 1:13PM
Is it me or does that look like an iPhone with keypads?
L.Rawlins @ Dec 20th 2007 1:31PM
It's just you.
cadaver51 @ Dec 20th 2007 1:14PM
Why are there still 3 letters per button? Are they trying to mess with us by showing off that they are capable of making something that bring us pure joy, but they would rather see the utter despair on our faces when we slide out the keys for the first time? Such bizarre behavior.
Hoobaman @ Dec 20th 2007 1:20PM
It looks a lot like the phone used in Alicia Keys' "Like You'll Never See Me Again" video. Check it out at 2:11. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4y_YLaEAjUg

I like it. Hope to be released soon.
Au revoir...

Isn't it supposed to say NOKIA N96 rather than just N96?
Pentium @ Dec 20th 2007 8:42PM
