Wisair wireless USB module hits the FCC
Wisair's been in the wireless USB game for some time already, and it now looks set to expand its offerings even further, with a new WUSB module of it's now making its debut at the FCC. As the device's manual helpfully informs, this one will let you set up an ad hoc wireless network between two computers without the need for a router or any network infrastructure, or between a PC and a USB-equipped peripheral like a printer or an external drive. Naturally, there's no word on a price or release date just yet, although it seems likely that the final product will come from another company and not Wisair itself, at least if the company's past track record is any indication.

MICRO CENTER sells one of these for just $40 by ADD LOGIX that works on both Windows AND Mac OS.
Its not on their webpage but they have them on the shelf.

ADDLOGIX's usb adapter is a 802.11b/g adapter... not a "wireless usb" adapter. Totally different.

Whats so special about this? I have an ad hoc network set up with a wireless usb stick and my xbox now without a router...

Shouldn't that be "of its own" instead of "of it's now"?

LISTEN they now made USB wireless, it's called wireless USB and the speed depends on the distance but is VERY fast when it's within a foot or two, and it's completely not related to WiFI (802.11x)
This is NOT about an USB stick with WiFI in it, this is about wireless USB, more info: http://www.usb.org/developers/wusb/
The idea is to connect regular USB devices but without wires.

If it is a foot or two, i rather use an Ethernet cable

Good luck using an ethernet cable to connect a USB device to the PC...

It has diminishing speed with distance, the full 480Mbit is only short range, but over longer range it's still better than WiFi I understand.
And as he said, it's not for networking.
