Lego master creates another functioning Guitar Hero axe
We've got to give credit where it's due, and there's no room to debate that David McNeel deserves quite a helping of kudos. Shortly after crafting a fully-functional Gibson Explorer Guitar Hero controller, this Lego modder extraordinaire has created yet another axe that totally outdoes the more traditional (read: factory built) alternatives. Modeled after a Fender Jazz Bass, this thing includes all of the electronics from an original axe, and it maintains every ounce of utility while attracting quite a few extra members for your ever-expanding fan club. Hit the read link to check out a couple more shots.

This seems like one of the few appropriate times to ask:
will it blend?
strider_mt2k @ Dec 23rd 2007 2:49PM
LEGO FTW!

I think I'm going to make my website out of lego blocks.
Cody @ Dec 23rd 2007 9:05AM
Looks like a Fender Precision to me, boys.
Jeff @ Dec 23rd 2007 1:02PM
Precision bass does not have an offset body. That's the main unique feature of the Jazz bass.
Additionally, the Jazz bass has a permanent chrome guard around the tone and volume knobs.
This is definitely modeled on a Jazz bass. And it's a pretty good facsimile. Headstock's a bit too large and the horns are a little weird, but whatever; probably the shape of the legos forcing that.

The P bass has a one piece pick guard. this is def modeled after a jazz.
Cody @ Dec 23rd 2007 12:25PM
Ahh, I was basing it off of the pickups.
Tommy Crashwreck @ Dec 24th 2007 3:03AM
Dave's right. Clearly a J-Bass, albeit one with a tremolo arm... curious.
jessy @ Dec 23rd 2007 10:40AM
wow, maybe we could make a bit more comfortable guitar for guitar hero.
seriously, i cant stand holding those tiny guitars.
i purpose a new guitar style, much like how keyboards used to be "a big brick" shape, and now we have split keyboards that and in a "bent" shape. you know the 1's that look like they are easy if you used your thumbs and index finger to make a diamond shape
zerosozha @ Dec 23rd 2007 11:17AM
How many Lego pieces did it take to make that, I wonder?
ZeroCorpse @ Dec 23rd 2007 11:46AM
Translation of article:
"Dude built a model out of toy bricks and stuck electronic guts from another toy into it."
You're welcome.
BatteryAcid @ Dec 23rd 2007 12:17PM
Probably more reliable than the Rock Band guitar.
computer.dude.28 @ Dec 23rd 2007 12:41PM
How about a video?
Roofus @ Dec 23rd 2007 1:46PM
I did not read that as "functioning" guess it's just my opinion of guitar hero.
Davsot @ Dec 23rd 2007 2:52PM
I wonder how much it would retail for...
NumberXII @ Dec 23rd 2007 8:08PM
I'm still waiting on the Rock Band Lego drum set

Is it bad that I want to track this guy down, chop off his legs so he can't chase me (he needs his hands to make more Lego goodies), and commit grand thievery upon this hapless creation of ultimate coolness?
...Does the fact that I don't have Guitar Hero or even a simple love of electric guitars make it any worse?
Hafk @ Dec 24th 2007 6:51AM
A bit old (I saw this a few months ago)
The guy's inspiration for this was Geddy Lee, who uses a J Bass.
The guy is a Rush fan, so he is really cool.
