The 2007 Engadget Awards: Nominate the Game Console of the Year

Nominating is easy, simply leave a comment with what you're nominating for this category. We'll round up the best selections and put them to the popular vote.
Here's five simple rules of what NOT to do:
- Don't include your reasons for nominating it.
You can debate the product later when we put it up to vote. Just leave the name of what you want to nominate, ok? - Don't nominate anything that wasn't sold for the first time in 2007.
We will allow updated versions of previous devices, however. - No concept devices or prototypes.
It has to be a real gadget people can buy! Pre-orders don't count. - Don't nominate anything more than once.
It's not a popularity contest (yet), all it does is make our lives harder. Just do a quick find to see if someone's already beat you to it. - Seriously, don't nominate anything that's already been nominated!

No, you can't nominate the Wii. It didn't have a hardware rev in 2007. Don't worry though, it won both awards last year!
Hailfire753 @ Dec 24th 2007 5:35PM
Actually, the wii did have an update. It was the D2C chipset, and it made current modchips obsolite. I nominate wii 1.1!!
Will H. @ Dec 24th 2007 6:12PM
I don't care. I nominate the Wii anyways.
Ryan Block @ Dec 24th 2007 6:18PM
Nominate it all you want, it's not going to be selected!
Jeff @ Dec 25th 2007 8:11PM
i disagree that somehow a hardware revision should be what qualifies a console for contending. (This is "Console of the year" and not "NEW console of the year....) None of the top 3 consoles were new this year, and the fact that the Wii didn't NEED another hardware revision shouldn't necessarily be punished.
But this isn't my blog, so do whatever you want, just know that my nomination and vote go for the Wii.

The biggest disappointment of the year is the Wii.. This isn't a gaming machine its a ripoff.. its simply stupid. I believe there is absolutely no difference between Wii and Vii except the Vii costs around 20 US dollars.. which makes it way better pricewise.

The PSP slim. Playing on your TV is nice!

mattclarkie @ Dec 25th 2007 1:15PM
360 Elite definately. Actually maybe the Halo3 version.
The Elite is great looking, and the HDD and HDMI are an improvement over my Launch Premium, but I would love to say I had a Halo 3 360, I could put it next to my 2 Legendary Editions.
Can I nominate both?
Josh @ Dec 24th 2007 3:01PM

Ed @ Dec 24th 2007 10:33PM
I would fourth that, but poor old me, I'm stuck with one of those (backward compatible) launch consoles. Man, life sucks.
