The 2007 Engadget Awards: Nominate the Portable Media Device of the Year

Nominating is easy, simply leave a comment with what you're nominating for this category. We'll round up the best selections and put them to the popular vote.
Here's five simple rules of what NOT to do:
- Don't include your reasons for nominating it.
You can debate the product later when we put it up to vote. Just leave the name of what you want to nominate, ok? - Don't nominate anything that wasn't sold for the first time in 2007.
We will allow updated versions of previous devices, however. - No concept devices or prototypes.
It has to be a real gadget people can buy! Pre-orders don't count. - Don't nominate anything more than once.
It's not a popularity contest (yet), all it does is make our lives harder. Just do a quick find to see if someone's already beat you to it. - Seriously, don't nominate anything that's already been nominated!

I nominate ANYTHING BUT that piece of crap known as the Archos 605. I have owned 4 Archos units and they get worse and worse every time. This was the biggest lemon of them all. They always get good reviews, because the people using them only use them for a couple of hours. Rewrite the review after a few weeks. You then find out that have the features promised barely work or don't work at all. They claim it is a mobile DVR. Then why the hell does it shut down the recording when ever it feels like? It is completely unreliable. And even worse, TONS OF US are having the same problem and Archos is just denying the whole thing. Even worse, people who own the 704 and 604 are claiming that those units had the exact same problems and DID NOTHING TO FIX IT IN THE NEXT GEN. Archos gets my vote as the biggest lemon product of 2007.
WOW, that is the most surprising comment I have read in a long time, Archos makes great products for those who know how to use them. To me the Archos 605 wifi (30 GB) does everything it says it does, and everything works fine. To me it is the best MP3 player I have since the Archos AV 500 (100 GB). Say what you will, but I love it and and its lasted me more than 2 weeks, my AV 500 is still running, and still better than any casual MP3 player on the market and its 3 years old! Archos makes top of the line products, for those who know how to use them.
I probably know how to use it better than you little man. The problem arises when you use the DVR docking station. All of us are having problems with it stopping the recordings short. You ask it to record 1 hour - it records 33 minutes. You ask it to record 30 minutes - it records 14 minutes. You get the point. I have owned a ton of Archos units also. This problem has been in both of the past 2 generations. Instead of fixing it, Archos just denies it is happening. Go to any Archos forums.... and their is nothing but problems with the DVR docking stations. Even sadder is that the new models have the exact same problem. Their costumer service is the worst I have ever seen to make it even more abysmal.I am tired of people saying that those of us with problems, don't know how to use the unit. This has nothing to do with video editing, etc. It has to do with the the DVR capabilities. Then we have the crowd that says that we just shouldnt use the DVR docking station. THE UNIT HAS "MOBILE DVR" STAMPED RIGHT ON IT. Don't call it a mobile DVR if it isn't. Look at the Cowon. It is a much more stable machine. I know that doesnt record TV, but neither does Archos :).
