Sprint halts sales of LG Rumor?
We're not planning on seeing any sort of confirmation from Sprint on this, but word on the street has it that the carrier has actually halted shipments of the LG Rumor to its retail outlets. Apparently, the handset has a "known issue where certain sets of key presses during startup can trigger a complete erasure of the phone's firmware." Purportedly, the device cannot be restored once triggered save for at the factory, but LG is hard at work creating an updated firmware that "removes the code from being accessible." Once that's completed and approved, existing users can expect an over-the-air download to be made available, and users to-be can expect the mobiles to start showing back up with the update already loaded on.

It's annoying because Sprint reps give different reasons. Such as LG Rumor is coming out with another color soon. I have heard two other reasons. Every rep should know the same thing or be honest and say I do not have any idea and make the effort to find out from a reputable source from Sprint.
what's new Sprint always has issues with phones
Is it Ctrl+Alt+Del?
Well, your information is not quite accurate. There is indeed a set of buttons that if pressed during activation can render the device DOA. All service centers were told if they saw one of these units to swap the device.
The LG Rumor is currently shipping in the blue/black color and is still out of stock in the white/silver color. Both colors including the new green color are all expected to be in stock in the next 2 weeks for ordering from all channels.
That's right. And LG has had problems meeting demand on the device, due to shortage on internal components within the phone.
Shortages of what finding 1x no EVDO chips.
lol. :| where's my mogul gps update?
to onelove , my father has a mogul , which they promised him so much stuff , but that phone never works right , but o well , my basic treo 755p never has let me down yet
Yep. If you dial customer support for Sprint, your phone goes dead. Complaints called in to Sprint have dropped to zero since the Rumor's release.
well i just hope by the time its ready for release Sprint is still around, because things are not going so well there. the company lost about 20 billion in just 3 months which is almost 1/2 of its market cap. i guess the idea of being really rude to the customers whats not a good idea after all
Please show me where you got this information.
June 5th of this year market price was $23.25 and today price is $13.19 with a market cap of 37.5 billion almost 1/2 of what it use to be, so I might be wrong intead of the 20 they might have lost a little bit more than 30 billion. Just go to google finance or etrade they will tell you
They may have lost $20 (or 30) billion in market cap, but they had a $64 million profit for the quarter reported Sept 2007. Market cap really means nothing about the financials of the company, only that investors have driven the price of the share down for whatever reason.
well if everyone is bailing out I sure won't wanna be there. But as you already said why should the company and the investers make billions when they could make millions
It's Antiquing, isn't it?
"Rumor" has it the phone has a fatal flaw....
its ass ugly
So, is this a RUMOR about the LG Rumor?
Seriously though, Sprint isn't looking good. I've always found their salespeople to be sleazy and underinformed, their stock anemic and depressing, and their service quality, both customer and network, terrible. C'mon Sprint, be like Emeril and kick it up a notch! BAM!
Emeril is an apt analogy for Sprint....

And people wonder why the iPhone attracts such attention!? This is an example of Exhibit A.....
They stopped shipping them at least since around 12/10, they told me they expected to get new shipments in January.
I've had my Rumor for almost a month now and have no real complaints. It lacks in some areas, but it works just fine...no sign of a deadly key combination. As for Snitch's comment "i guess the idea of being really rude to the customers whats not a good idea after all." They are rude as hell. My upgrade credit was totally botched up, I called customer service and they told me it was fixed, but the guy at the store argued with me. I had to call customer service while I was in the store and ordered the phone right in front of him so he could watch any commission slip from his rude, bastard fingers.
I have had a LG Rumor since it has come out. Funny Sprint never decided to tell anyone that already purchased them that there is a problem. I'll just make sure to only hit the power button when I turn it on... God, I hope the secret button is not the power button....
@DrScotyB
I missed the second part of your post. The same EXACT thing happened to me, but I totally bitched out CS until they gave me a corporate number to call. The corporate number seemed hopeless until I bitched out the operator about the CS giving me the number and she transferred me to someone who could do something. I ended up having a bill for this month and last for about 15 bucks each month.
hahahahaa...he could still get commission if he had your info. all he has to do is call up as soon as you leave and tell them he talked him into getting the phone. hahahhaaa...still funny, however.
Rumors and Lies! Rumors and Lies!! It's all Rumors and Lies!!!
