Lenovo rolls out Olympic-themed USB drive
Lenovo long ago revealed its Olympic-themed laptops, but it looks like the company isn't done with the technology tie-ins just yet, as it's now trotted out a similarly-branded USB flash drive to go along with the laptops (or your own). As you can see, the thumb drive should at least match the laptop quite nicely, but there unfortunately doesn't seem to be any word as to what capacities will be available, or any other details for that matter. We're pretty sure you can expect them to roll out sometime before the Olympics get underway this summer, however, with 'em likely to demand a bit of a premium over other, non-Olympic drives.

1. China hosts Olympic games
2. China-based Lenovo makes Olympic game-themed flash drives
3. China sells these to Americans, everyone
4. ????!!!
5. PROFIT!
I'm sorry, I find the China-theme in that ironic.

Watch out for knock-offs and behave while you are in China, stay away from discussion for democracy or porn sites
Wwhat @ Jan 2nd 2008 3:32AM
But if you do get into such discussions: congrats on learning to speak chinese!
Halfmad @ Jan 1st 2008 7:58PM
Epic fail, looks bloody awful.
klew @ Jan 1st 2008 8:19PM
Since it's Chinese themed, bet on 8GB and no chance of 4GB capacities.
Wolfticket @ Jan 1st 2008 8:20PM
Typo ahoy! Man the harpoons! Arrr...

I will actually be in Beijing for the olympic games this year. I'm going to spend July in Shan Dong and Shang Hai (with friends) and then get to Beijing to be there during the opening ceremony.
I'm glad to see the "dancing BeiJing" gifts and ornaments rolling out because I am certain there will be no shortage of chinese vendors selling trinkets to take back home to my younger family members.
BUT...I just hope these things will have been made with quality control behind them. No more lead paint. No more viagra and rohypnol (date rape drug)ingredients.
Wolfticket @ Jan 1st 2008 8:26PM
Date rape you say...
Jeff @ Jan 1st 2008 10:30PM
Because we all know you just HAVE to add lead when it made in China even though design requirements don't call for it.
OneLove @ Jan 2nd 2008 10:15AM
dude, get me a fake panerai.
Phoenix @ Jan 1st 2008 9:12PM
Well, I must say that this has to be one of the lamest ploys to make money since... well... the Olympic themed laptop. I mean, come on. Where once the Olympian who won was awarded with a laurel wreath and high honors, now they're awarded medals and huge contracts for image rights. And then we've got these bottom feeders turning out this piece of filth labeling it with the same symbols as the current games in an effort to make a dollar (yuan, whatever). Sickening. And to top it off... It's the ugliest piece of trash I've seen since the clothing styles of the eighties! Please, God, let them not make a profit so they won't be back next Olympics!
David @ Jan 1st 2008 10:11PM
It's called Capitalism!
nojok3 @ Jan 1st 2008 9:20PM
why
peshue @ Jan 1st 2008 9:31PM
Looks like a olympic themed tampon applicator
nih @ Jan 1st 2008 10:03PM
How about a boycott of Olympic-themed crap this year? Seriously. China is committing some pretty bad human rights abuses to sanitise and cheapen their part in the Olympics.
jaymoh @ Jan 1st 2008 10:06PM
glad to see they've gone with the choking smog motif
David @ Jan 1st 2008 10:14PM
Go ahead: boycott the Olympica just like in 1980
Ypoknons @ Jan 1st 2008 10:24PM
It's all really quite mandatory fare for Lenovo, given China's Olympic craze. You'd understand if you were there.
Wwhat @ Jan 2nd 2008 3:34AM
It's fugly I think,
Plus an olympic themed performance-increasing drugs carrying case would be more appropriate probably.
John Seamann @ Jan 2nd 2008 7:51AM
For those of you who don´t know it, Lenovo is also designing the Olympic Torch
usbflashdrive @ Mar 30th 2008 10:51AM
well.that is very nice.

I like it... so classy, although it looks like a highlighter marker.
they should've made it shape like the torch cylinder shape...
