Details are still fairly light on this one, but the folks at TN Games have just dropped us word that the company is about to expand its line of wearable gaming devices, with its new 3rd Space GFR Vest and HXT Helmet set to make their official debut at CES (if you're curious, those acronyms refer to G-Force / Racing and "Head and eXTremities," respectively). The new get-ups will complement the company's existing 3rd Space gaming vest (pictured at right) which, as we
previously reported, was originally developed for medical applications before being re-purposed for gaming. While we'll have to wait for CES to get the full rundown on the new gear, both the helmet and vest promise to deliver "simultaneous physical impact and sensations directly to player¹s bodies from the virtual gaming environment," along with a "conveyance of acceleration, deceleration, centrifugal and G-force effects" in the case of the vest. Needless to say, those with weak stomachs will probably want to sit on the sidelines this time around, as we're guessing these'll pack a bit more punch than that Aura Interactor vest collecting dust in your closet.

kid bursts into flames while playing cooking mama. more after the break.
Rocketboy @ Jan 3rd 2008 8:23AM
Silly, they'd never mention what game it was BEFORE the break. It would be more like "A young child playing a popular video game burst into flames today. Are your children playing the killer videogame? Find out which one it is, after the break."
Senor_Tom @ Jan 2nd 2008 6:53PM
The helmet would deter you yet more from getting head-shotted....and imagine the chest pain from a point blanc shotgun etc. I say fun nevertheless.
mik @ Jan 2nd 2008 6:56PM
would definately help with reaction time playing FPS depending on how fast the response time is.. cant see myself playing games with a helmat on, a beanie with a propeller on top would be pretty sweet tho.
Isaac @ Jan 2nd 2008 6:56PM
If its under $150 I will buy it in a second. If its over $150 I will have to think about it. It sounds kick ass. It will actually make you NOT want to get shot in COD 4.
L.Cyphre @ Jan 3rd 2008 4:05AM
Closer to $1500 probably, at least initially. Unless you live in the UK in which case it'll be £1500.
Rantix @ Jan 9th 2008 1:34AM
It's actually only $150 (for the vest). Helmet isn't priced yet.
TomTom2007 @ Jan 2nd 2008 7:03PM
it might be nice to wear them during winter, but what about summer time...

Derek Bradley @ Jan 2nd 2008 7:17PM

yahmes @ Jan 2nd 2008 8:17PM

Richard @ Jan 2nd 2008 8:41PM
With this vest/helmet, Doom plays YOU.
iofthestorm @ Jan 2nd 2008 8:59PM
Only if you use it in Soviet Russia, though.

ok dont get me wrong i think this is a great idea, and we just have to hope developers take advantage of adding this into their games. but i think ill wait till they can add this into a t-shirt or a sweatshirt, i look dorky enough with a headset on playin halo when my friends come to my place, the last thing i need is to have a vest on that makes me actually feel where im getting hit..
now on the plus side, i cant wait for this, instead of spinning around trying to find you target from an on screen flash or something you actually feel it and know which way to turn. although i wonder how many hits it can take simultaneously and still make u feel all the shots. i can imagine a group of friends getting together online and everyone shoots one guy all over their body just to test how it feels. lol
trey @ Jan 2nd 2008 9:58PM
Agree with you on developers, but they seem to have taken to the steering wheel, laser gun and wiimote pretty redily...
however short of swapping kinetic sesation for electric, this wont work in a tshirt...
Ian @ Jan 3rd 2008 9:03PM
well not now it wont. but maybe in the future it will work that way. i mean if we can make nano tech why not make something that hits us smaller? but i know it wont be for years to come
BananaBoat @ Jan 2nd 2008 9:58PM
Just paintball yourself in the chest. Same sensation, less money.
Cal @ Jan 2nd 2008 10:05PM
This kinda thing, combined with the omnidirectional treadmill, and some kind of light gun or other weapon shaped thingy would make for a great gaming experience =)
Phaedrus @ Jan 2nd 2008 10:24PM
Oh noes, its a murder simulator!!!!11!!!!1!!1!shift+1!!!lolol
John Friedman @ Jan 4th 2008 11:24AM
Anyone remember the X-Files episode with the virtual reality game? These are the vests!
Razor_kill @ Jan 3rd 2008 3:26AM
I think we will experience full gaming pleasure only in some 20-40 years later im only kidding myself saying 20 years as im 20 already.I mean the kindof gaming where you wear all those wires to your head and you feel like transported to some other virtual world where you arent just a player but really walking, eating, drinking and sleeping and everything you do and dont affects you inturn.
jringeno @ Jan 3rd 2008 6:21PM
Why do these remind me of the vests they wore in the movie hackers. I can just see it now, "tacky vest becomes fashion icon". sorta like when the white ipod earbuds came out, and we all remember how that turned out....I LIKE BEATINGS!!!
