Feeling a touch
overwhelmed by HP's
outpouring of
media center PCs? If so, the Pavilion a6330f should calm those nerves quite a bit, as this humble rig is designed for those not quite ready to drop a grand (or more) on a new desktop. Check the innards below:
- 2.8GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core 5600+ processor
- NVIDIA's nForce 430 chipset
- 3GB of DDR2 RAM
- 500GB 7,200 RPM SATA hard drive
- HP Pocket Media Drive Bay
- SuperMulti DVD burner (LightScribe-enabled)
- NVIDIA 128MB GeForce 6150 SE graphics set
- Front-mounted 15-in-1 multicard reader
As for the port assortment, you can count on six USB 2.0 sockets, a pair of FireWire connectors, audio in / out and VGA. Additionally, you'll find an HP mouse and multimedia keyboard tossed in for good measure, and you can spec yours out later this month starting at $649.

Damn hp has a very good line of computers coming out. Is there anything in the notebook section?
CharlieX @ Jan 3rd 2008 1:08AM
Nice specs on everything. Still looks like a mid-90's shitbox.

Engadget: Apple + HP before it was cool
Andrew @ Jan 3rd 2008 1:12AM
Jesus christ enough about freaking HP. I hated it when you did it with Crapple. I hated it when you did it with XBOX. I'm not buying a machine I can build for $500 less, I'm not buying a low quality HP, and I'm not interested in HP to any extent. Gaming LAPTOPS, maybe. UMPCs, maybe. PDAs, sure. But prefab desktops, no thanks.

8 random posts about HP all in a row in one month is comparable to 5 Apple posts every day for months how?
Andrew @ Jan 3rd 2008 2:15AM
Fair enough, I just got flashbacks... all of a sudden there were apples flying everywhere and I couldn't control my reactions!
Fortunately, 8 posts about HP is the limit to the positive light even engadget can shed upon HP...

I honestly can't put it any more clearly then that. While I'm not a fan of every single model update being published either, atleast I'm not whining about it. You want a blog about only the things you want? - start your own. Or better yet, crawl back into your cave you silly troll.
Andrew @ Jan 3rd 2008 2:55AM
oh come now.
Humor is key, and so is a basic grasp of the fact that this is a public blog and I can reply in any way I so choose with my very own opinion (yes, people have them these days!), as demonstrated by yourself.
I still put trolls above the negative-nancies that nitpick about spelling and grammar though (not referring to YOU, just another general opinion).
Its just pretty weird, I come to engadget to get the latest tech news and am presented with post after post of Hewlett Packard adverts. It took me a second to realize why Adblock wasnt filtering them...

How cheap can HP get? We're in 2008 now, anything less than a 7 series video card should be denied. I don't care if someone will be playing games or not, they should still get the most out of their money. You can't even run Vista decently with this setup, since the video card uses shared memory.
michael @ Jan 3rd 2008 1:18AM
As much as some of these sound nice, I wish HP wouldn't make so many different PC's.
It's so hard to differentiate without looking at every single spec. The all kind of look the same. The only difference I can tell off the top is a few numbers/letters rearranged on the model name.
I don't think it would hurt HP to just put one good model out of the bunch and give it a nice name, would it?
Otherwise, I got to say, these are real nice.
kev @ Jan 3rd 2008 1:21AM
Jeebus, so many posts about HP...
Wei Jia @ Jan 3rd 2008 1:22AM
It almost seems like HPgadget right now.
jeff @ Jan 3rd 2008 1:24AM
Oh please Engadget, grow balls and stop licking them you marketing whores. This site looks like a bad HP press kit, and what kind of geek buys a pre-assembled PC. Sheesh!
Tamer Brad @ Jan 3rd 2008 3:21AM
Right, the geeks are the ones who DON'T build their own computers.
I have no interest in building a fucking machine and I'm sure a lot of people out there share my sentiments.
jeff @ Jan 3rd 2008 3:39PM
These are good for the unwashed masses who rely on big names to make prefab pcs for them. Such prefab pcs are an oddity around here. But if you dont have the interest, then you dont have the need.
Chase @ Jan 3rd 2008 1:25AM
Agreed, What is it like 6 in a row???
This is almost as bad as Letterman's beard :x
SamC @ Jan 3rd 2008 1:48AM
Too bad I convinced my mom to buy a new laptop, these are pretty good deals. Hope the laptop lineup gets some nice updates as well.

You morons, these are pre-CES press releases.
HP is a big company, you expect them to what? Not announce anything?
They are the largest PC company in the world. Bigger than Dell and even the holy Apple.
When Apple has their press events and there are 12 Apple posts in a row do you all bitch then?
If you dont like it then stay away from CES.
jeff @ Jan 3rd 2008 3:42PM
I expect them to post on their own site(HP), so Engadget can put up a nice article, not flood us with this crap.
