Survived the
barrage of
new HP
desktops? We certainly hope so, as now the firm is hitting us up with a bit of news on the laptop front. Up to bat first is the 12.1-inch tx2000 convertible tablet (pictured), which presumably takes over for the
tx1000 and comes bundled with the outfit's QuickPlay software, a webcam and an integrated microphone (beyond that, it's wait-and-see). As for the oh-so-intimidating
Pavilion HDX, it will soon be available with a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS graphics set, an optional Core 2 Extreme processor, Blu-ray / HD DVD support and a 20.1-inch WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) XHD Ultra Brightview display. Additionally, the workhorse will boast four Altec Lansing speakers and a built-in "subwoofer," an eSATA port, hybrid analog / digital TV tuner, room for two HDDs and a media remote to boot. As for pricing and availability, expect the tx2000 to start shipping as CES commences for $1,299 and up, while the newly pimped HDX will ship later this month and start at $1,999.
Update: Check out an incredibly boring demo video of the tx2000 after the break.
you'll be seeing alot from Gateway and their FX series...believe me...
I'm sure feeling a little HP crazy today. What happened to Dell and Gateway, guess we'll have to wait till CES to see something new.
Well, Gateway doesn't exist anymore so don't hold your breath too long there
Gateway does exist. its a subsidiary of Acer now.
HP is on fire!
all this HP news over the past few days is great but i hope HP hasnt forgotten about the 2510p(12.1" business class notebook with track point). Im hoping a revamped version of that laptop will come with all these new laptops.
All of this hp news isn't great, in fact it's kind of annoying to be honest. I'm happy to read it I just don't like it taking up 8 pages (that's a hyperbole btw). I would have been super happy if all of the articles were compiled and accessed through one link (which moved up the ladder each time a new item was added).
no reason to reply to me, I wasnt exactly commenting on the organization of engadgets stories one way or another
All this news and NO SPECS for the tablet?¿?¿?¿?¿?
THIS IS USELESS!!!!!
This is Sparta!!!!!
Hopefully the QuickPlay on this one DOES work (unlike the tx1000 with Vista). The 1000 was an excelent entertainment laptop, and with the updates this is magic.
Here the official specs:
• Genuine Windows® Vista Home Premium, Business or Ultimate
• AMD Turion ™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology Processors
• 12.1" WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Touch-screen Display
(1280 x 800). Panel rotates 180° and folds flat. Built-in digitizer
for handwriting with battery-less rechargeable eraser pen (dockable).
• NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 graphics with up to 559MB shared video memory
• Up to 4096MB 667MHz DDR2 system memory
• Up to 250MB (5400 RPM) hard disk drives
• SuperMulti 8X DVD±R/RW with Double Layer Support (LightScribe optional)
• Up to Wirless LAN 802.11a/b/g/n & Bluetooth
at last! Wacom Digitizer!
If the tx came with an Intel Core 2 Duo I'd grab one and take it everywhere, but sadly I find the Turion 64 X2 to be a turn-off.
...Unless someone can prove to me that they are as good as the Intel chips...
Erm... With regard to the HDX, aside from the new graphics card, every other option listed above is ALREADY available on HDX's and has been for 2 months now!!
I had a go on an earlier model one of these recently.
Is the "cheese grater" touchpad design to encourage you to use the touch screen?
I believe it allows you to use the trackpad even when your fingers are wet or oily. Personally, I like the "dots" design better.
